This mid-tier romcom kicked off in Thailand back in 2017 (or, for our more culturally attuned guests, 2560 in Thai time), at a humble orientation for foreign English teachers, hosted in the Thai equivalent of a Holiday Inn. As with most epic love stories, the flirting quickly escalated to the hot and heavy topic of personal injuries. Michael, in what his brother generously dubbed a "weakling's hiking mishap," had broken his wrist. Meanwhile, Michele had upped the ante by busting her face in a gnarly golf cart accident, proving once and for all that golf can indeed be a contact sport.
After being whisked off to their separate schools a few days later, they managed to stay in touch and link up for some group weekend trips across the Land of Smiles—cue some rusty mopeds, lush rice fields, idyllic beaches, crusty backpackers, strange face paint parties, and plenty of nice Thai folks. By the end of the semester, Michael made the bold move to transfer to Michele’s school in Bangkok, and, opting for the slow approach, the two dove headfirst into the trifecta of relationship challenges: living, working, and traveling together.
Seven years, two-and-a-half cities, eight questionable apartments, and one McLovin later, they’re beyond thrilled to celebrate this special moment with the people they love and can’t wait for you to join in on the festivities. Like the journey that got them here, they fully expect it to be a rocking’ good time.
