Obviously a flight & passport are required to get to tropical Costa Rica :)
Our wedding will be Friday afternoon ( AH! So excited! ) so we recommend flying in by Thursday October 29th since transportation usually will not get you to the beach until later in the day. Thursday to Monday seems to have the most inexpensive plane tickets, when we tried to look at cost/flights from all of our guests home towns.
There are TWO airports that can get you to our wedding & your vacation.
1. San Jose (SJO) is about a 4 hour van/bus or rental car ride from Playa Flamingo & the resort. This will be the less expensive option, by a fair amount.
2. Liberia (LIR) is about 45 minutes to 1 hour ride to Playa Flamingo & the resort. This is more expensive in most cases, but definitely more convenient.
We have looked into rental cars for ourselves, and found it to be really affordable through Kayak.com for about $10/day. It would be an adventure for sure.. get ready for paper maps, bumpy streets, cows in the way, and gorgeous views!
The easiest would be to take a group van/bus to the resort. There are a few companies we are still working with to figure this out. If we have a number of you arriving around the same time to the same airport - Matt and I will take care of everything and set it up for you to travel together to the resort! Once you are all set with travel date/time let us know and we will help figure out travel or set it up for you.
Flamingo Beach Resort & Spa, Costa Rica
This beachfront hotel is All-Inclusive which includes 3 meals per day, daily activities, and unlimited house beverages and spirits! We are getting married in their "Green Season" which offers significantly discounted prices that we hope makes this trip easier to accommodate for you. There are other plans (room or room + breakfast only) that on the surface are less expensive, but having talked with the hotel travel agent, most of the time you spend a substantial amount more on meals, beverages, and activities.
We want this to be an exceptional experience for you and the All-Inclusive plan is one of the best ways we can make sure of that. It significantly lowers the cost of our reception as well, and that way we can make sure to have the best wedding possible while you have the BEST time imaginable!
There are fun activities like snorkeling, ocean kayaking, paddle boarding, ATV tours, zip-lining, horse back riding that can all be booked through the hotel. There is a spa, fitness center, tennis court, pool and free Wifi.

San Jose to Liberia
If you see a great deal to San Jose, Costa Rica - there are options for smaller planes to take you from SJO to Liberia airport! Lacsa is a company I have traveled with before and it was really easy. Nature Air is a newer company that seems to have a decent number of quick trips for a reasonable price.
