Our fairy tale began—like all great Houston love stories—at a neighborhood bar with parking issues. It was a warm evening at the charming establishment of Bobcat Teddy’s in the Heights. The idyllic setting for a first date between two single Houstonians who found themselves on what would turn out to be their last first date. Michelle arrived fashionably late, thanks to some Houston parking issues. After grabbing a few tasty cold beers and sitting down at a creaky picnic table the conversation quickly flowed and lead to abundant laughs after tales of each of their distinctly different life paths which&nbsp;somehow lead them to meet on this fateful evening. From the very first laugh, something just clicked. Despite growing up worlds apart, they quickly discovered a natural connection. Michelle is from Tampico, Mexico, where she grew up loving books, gymnastics, tortas,&nbsp;and terrifying her parents with backflips off the&nbsp;couch. Carson is from Houston, where he grew up loving fishing, hunting, everything outdoors, and excelling at being athletically average, attending Kinkaid and later TCU.They traded stories about their lives, travels, families, plenty of jokes, and Carson’s conspiracy theories. Carson had just returned from scuba diving in Egypt, and the two bonded over their shared love for the ocean, animals, and history. There seemed to be an instant spark. A connection. A foundation of laughter and jokes&nbsp;that lead both parties to grow hungry… Hungry for tacos.&nbsp; They wandered across the street to a taqueria, where Michelle confidently ordered off-menu items in Spanish that were exotic, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. It was also the moment Carson realized Michelle was Mexican, not Middle Eastern as he had originally guessed.&nbsp; Over tacos, Michelle shared more about her family, her mischievous teenage years, her love for her pets, and the path that brought her to Houston at age 12, then to St. Agnes, and later to the University of Texas. Carson listened, ate, and was feeling a lot — he wasn't sure if it was butterflies, heartburn from the spicy salsas, or the sweet brown eyed girl smiling across the red and white checkered table. As the night wound down and their bellies ached from laughing (and spicy salsas), they walked to Michelle’s car—only to realize she had forgotten where she parked it, classic! A memorable end to a magical night. One date quickly turned into two, then three. Carson, feeling confident he had found a keeper, asked Michelle to be his novia. Things continued to move quickly, and they met each other’s families and friends by the fifth date. They traveled to Miami, one of Michelle’s favorite vacation places. Then to Costa Rica, Mexico and around Texas. The more time they spent together the more they didn’t want to be apart.&nbsp; In May, Carson proposed, pulling off a playful surprise involving their shared love of pranks and their adorable (and slightly chaotic) pups, Bossy and Oli. And now, they can’t wait to begin this next chapter—surrounded by the people they love most—in the city where it all began.
