Black Squirrels on Parade

Picture of Black Squirrels on Parade

Most of you probably dont know, Marysville is known for its black squirrels! Back in the early 1900s a traveling carnival was in town and the black squirrels escaped. Now, we are known as the Black Squirrel City! There are many people that visit Marysville and request to trap and take a black squirrel or two home...they are always told no. ;)

Since they are the town mascot, if a police officer sees you run one over, you will be fined $25.00!

Black Squirrels on Parade gives you the opportunity to get up close and personal with Marysville’s official mascot! Thirty-four 5-foot fiberglass black squirrels are displayed throughout town, designed and painted by local and regional artists. Grab a map at the Visitors Center or area gas stations and go find each squirrel to learn more about the inspiration behind our furry friends!
