Michelle and Matthew’s journey started with a twist of fate, a little distance, and a lot of friendship.

Matthew Taylor Skaggs was born in 1996 in Mississippi, later moving to Georgia with his family when he was in the 6th grade. Michelle Nicole Tenney, born in 1994, grew up in Georgia, where they attended rival high schools—Matthew at Kennesaw Mountain and Michelle at Harrison. Despite their close age, it would take several years and mutual friends to bring them together.

During the summer of 2020, thanks to their best friends, Jenna and Bradley, who had recently started dating, Michelle and Matthew began spending more time together. A close friendship quickly formed. When Valentine’s Day arrived, Michelle didn’t want to spend the evening alone, so she asked Matthew, who was living in Greensboro at the time, to join her. Matthew happily drove down to Atlanta, and what began as a simple dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse marked the start of something beautiful.

After a few months of long-distance, Matthew accepted a job with Endeavor Airlines in Atlanta and moved back home. Since then, Michelle and Matthew have built a life filled with adventures, travel, and the joy of raising their two beloved dogs, Athena and Obi-wan. Each of them brought their dog into the relationship, and together, Athena and Obi have become the best of siblings, adding laughter and warmth to every day. From music festivals and concerts to exploring new places, Michelle and Matthew love sharing life’s experiences with each other—and, of course, their pups.

Now, as they prepare for the next chapter, Michelle and Matthew look forward to a future filled with even more adventures, laughter, and love. They can’t wait to travel, grow together, and one day, build a family of their own. With hearts full of gratitude and excitement, they’re thrilled to begin this journey surrounded by family and friends who have been part of their story all along.
