In 2018, Michelle joined Plante Moran where Jeff already worked. Jeff and Michelle proceeded to basically never talk to each other for 4 years. In late 2022/early 2023, Jeff and Michelle found each other at more social events through their mutual work friends. This naturally proceeded to Jeff (awkwardly) asking Michelle on a date in the Plante Moran kitchen. At the time, Michelle convinced herself it was just a drink with a coworker. However, she knew 5 minutes into the date, that this was something different (apparently he already knew!) The next 18 months were filled with nothing but joy, exciting adventures together, and love.
On July 13th, 2024, Jeff pulled off the biggest surprise of all time. What Michelle thought was just a weekend trip to her see her favorite artist, Noah Kahan, turned into so much more. After a full day of exploring NYC/the Met/Central Park, Michelle was grumpy because she hadn't eaten in about an hour and a half and it was 900 degrees in NYC that weekend. Jeff convinced Michelle that the night ahead was going to be super fun, since she thought they were meeting up with his friend, Katelyn, and her boyfriend, Yon, on the High Line followed by a fancy dinner. After convincing her to wear the white dress (Michelle is so gullible) and Jeff drinking the fastest old-fashioned of his life as they waited for an Uber (Michelle thought he was just really thirsty), they headed to the High Line. After about 5 minutes of walking in the heat, Jeff started to put on his suit jacket. Michelle went from saying "Jeff, don't put that on. You will die of heat exhaustion" to quickly saying "Oh my God, is this what I think it is?" Jeff reached into his pocket, got down on one knee, and asked the four words, "Will you marry me?" After many joyful tears and many pictures from a wonderful surprise photographer, Jeff and Michelle finally headed to a restaurant to cool off and enjoy the time together before telling everyone they loved. Or so Michelle thought... Instead, as soon as they walked in, Michelle was surprised with both immediate families. Queue the happy tears again! The night was a purely joyful celebration as laughter, tears and stories were shared by two families who soon will become one!
