Tips

Resort

-If you take probiotics daily before you come and while you are there, some people state it will help if you get stomach issues. Not proven- just a suggestion.

-There are no elevators, so tell the travel agent you would like to reserve a 1st floor room if you have an issue with stairs!

-Bring lots of sunscreen! Some reviews say people have brought small containers but its not enough. $20+ to buy in gift shop.

-No need to exchange money, they prefer american dollars for tips etc..

-Bring water shoes for excursions and the water park

-Beach towels are not needed (but you may want for excursions)

-You might want to bring bug spray if you get bitten easily or go on any jungle excursion. Most people say the resort is free of mosquitos but better to have some

-There is a white party Wednesday night at the resort with Fire dancers etc... You don't have to wear white, but a lot of people do.

-Casual attire everywhere in resort but no sleeveless shirts for Men at dinner

-Bring rafts/floats if wanted, especially if you have a swim out room. They do sell them there too.

-Insulated cups (Bubba, Tervis etc) are great for drinks at the pool or beach. They will refill them and they keep drinks colder and you get more than the plastic cups the resort has

- People recommend to not buy souvenirs in the resort gift shop, instead there is any area outside the front gate that has everything and you can barter with them. Said to start at 50%! They may be a little pushy though if you can handle that.

-There are timeshare people at the airport and at the resort. They may offer you a free breakfast and a $100 voucher or something, but don't go unless you want to waste 3 hours of your time.

-As on any vacation, please make sure to use the safe in the room for ANYTHING valuable. I may get TSA approved suitcase locks also. Yes this is a top resort, but just remember in any poor country, try not to leave anything for temptation! The same with being at the pool or beach. Dont leave ipads etc.. unattended. I know most of you know all of this, but figured I would remind you!

-Bring lots of $1's for tips. They prefer american dollars but it is hard to get change at the resort. You DO NOT have to tip. But they appreciate it very much since they make so little.

-Do not brush your teeth with sink water. They give you plenty of bottled water. The water and Ice is safe to drink at restaurants and bars though

-There will be a $10 fee at the airport to get into the country, and $20 to leave. We may be able to pay this ahead of time, I will find out.

-Coconut water and Coconut milk can have a laxative effect if you drink too much. Some people think they got something from the water or food, when really its from too much coconut! A few drinks are fine, just remember not to drink pina coladas etc.. all day long!

-The hairdryers in the room are powerful, no need to bring your own!
