Michiala first came into my head when my younger sister Karely texted me out of nowhere “Add Michiala Hemphill on Facebook, she’s single”, and my response was who even is that?


I, stubborn as usual, did not hit her up. For three months, Karely would try her best to get me to at least message her. In her words, “I want that good sister-in-law!”


Finally, after a few months of trying to get me to reach out to her, I did…. and this girl left me on READ!! I will admit my pickup line was weak, but I didn’t know her nor what her interests were but I knew we both graduated from the same college, so I figured there was a good conversation starter. It indeed was not a conversation starter LOL.


After that, I left it alone until she came back into my mind, and I decided that shooters shoot, so I shot again! This time, I just straight asked her out. She didn’t say yes, but she didn’t say no either, but I decided to give her a little taste of her own medicine and left her on read.


After I posted a picture of my beautiful niece, Bre Bre, where she slides up about how beautiful she is, and we have not stopped talking since. After we hung out for the first time, I knew, without a doubt, that this girl was the one for me. I told my mom there and then, I had found my future wife!! I owe this relationship to the best wingmen I could’ve possibly asked for, Karely and Bre Bre!!!

Our story starts off with a Facebook DM from August 31, 2022.

Tomas messaged me on Facebook and said "Hey! I noticed that you graduated from ULM! I went there too, what was your major?"

At the time, I thought the message was silly and really did not understand why he would want to know what my major was? I chose to not respond to this message.

Fast forward to March of 2023, I received snapchat from Tomas while out of town at a concert asking to take me out on a date. I responded and told him I was out of town and would see about this once I got back home. He left me on READ. I was so flustered by this because I thought to myself, "this boy just really did that?!"

A little time passed and it was the start of April 2023, I saw Tomas post a story of his niece Bre Bre. This little girl was dressed as a ninja and I thought it was too funny! I saw an opportunity to slide up on his story of her to start a conversation. I said something along the lines of, "I am cracking up!"

Well you all will never believe this, Tomas left me on READ again! (Payback for me never responding to his Facebook message, I guess LOL)

A few days after, he posted another story of Bre Bre at her dance recital. Yet again, I could not resist sliding up on this story of this beautiful little girl. I said, "How precious."

Tomas responded with , "You should meet her sometime." (Smooth, I KNOW RIGHT?!)

Me being me, I could NOT let him know I thought that little pick up line was smooth because he had left me on read twice! We continued to snapchat for the rest of the day. We did not want to stop talking to one another. I can remember feeling like a little girl, smiling at my phone.

After about a week or so, talking each day, Tomas finally built up the courage to ask me on a lunch "Sonic date." At the time we both worked in Lake Providence across the road from one another. (How ironic, Right?) I had a safety class the day he asked me to go to lunch so I could not make it but instead some of my friends' boyfriends came home from work that day. We always got together to hang out once the boys got back home to eat and catch up. SO, I saw the opportunity to break the ice. Instead of a sonic date that day, Tomas came with me to hangout with my friends. BOY did they break him in right. We had so much fun that night.

The next day, I remember thinking to myself, I am in trouble because I knew Tomas was something special. The rest of our story was history. We never left each other's' side after that first day.
