Oregon's Little Switzerland

We are excited to share with family and close friends, one of the 7 wonders of Oregon: The Wallowa Mountains. Located in North-eastern Oregon, the Wallowas are part of the Blue Mountains which span 4,060 square miles and are home to what many consider the Swiss Alps of Oregon. 9,000 foot-tall snow-capped mountains with towering douglas fir and pines surround pristinely clear Wallowa Lake. These beautiful lands were once the home of the Nez Perce Indians and is now the final resting place of Chief Joseph. One of the main attractions, Wallowa Lake, captures snowmelt between moraines formed by ancient glacier movement. The beautiful surroundings have no shortage of northwest wildlife with plenty of deer, wolves, small black bear, falcons, eagles, trout and salmon. Not too far from Joseph, exciting adventures can be found in America's deepest canyon, Hell's Canyon, carved by the Snake River. This beautiful remote area has so much to offer and we are so excited to share it with all of you.

In a showered land where covered wagons once trudged westward, two single 30-somethings were tired of the drab dating scene and pretentious bar scene. Both knew what they wanted, a partner in life that shared the love of the outdoors, a whimsical non-politically-correct sense of humor, the urge to travel the world, and compassion and love for those close to them. The years were filled with missed connections, fruitless pursuits, and disappointing soirees with prospects that were later to be revealed as professional court[ing] jesters. The days of the calendar flipped by like the pages of a book left to be read by the wind. Conventional watering wells had become ennui and both our beloved were becoming weary and listless. One day, walking by and ignoring the snake oils and magic potions offered by the foreign [e]Merchants, the town crier gave news of a newly discovered tree, that once put to flame would attract many others looking for their missing soul mate. This was not a guaranteed love solution, but a new magic method of connection. This new tinder produced a mixed result, with many shirtless peasants flaunting false wealth and damsels with permanent fowl-faced disfigurations, but very few true souls. One day, both M&amp;M threw this magical wood on the fire and they were instantly connected. With a playful but cautious exchange of haikus, riddles and poems (and a background check) a meeting was agreed upon... without chaperones. Both at first were heavily guarded, covering their scars from past battles. But slowly, less of the heavy armor was brought to their secret rendezvous. Sharing their most-special and memorable locations the two explored secrets gardens, hidden lakes with mountain islands, canyons where angel's land on earth, and traveled around a distant island in an old wagon named 'Westy.' The two began to open and their souls began to connect.Two years passed and the two adventurers hardly spent a day apart. Slumbering in abandoned towers amidst enchanted forests, sleeping on beaches where pirates once buried lost treasures and searching for the most unadulterated stargazing skies was not getting tiresome. These were the adventures that both M&amp;M had been dreaming of and what seemed impossible had now slowly grown between them. In a recent excursion, to a land where hairy creatures howl and swing tree-to-tree and exotic colored flora effortlessly sprout from the ground, fluorescent crustaceans skitter forest floors near a mountain that belches fiery smoke and drains molten earth, our two committed to one another under the showers of Danta Falls.

Wedding Party Information

Information for all who are in the wedding party including parents of the groom and bride. Rehearsal will be held 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the Wallowa River Camp. Rehearsal dinner to follow at Vali's restaurant. After the dinner, you are invited back to the River Camp, with the other guests, for campfire and activities starting at 6:30. We will be contacting party members directly about suit rentals, bridesmaid dresses and other details! We are excited for you to be a part of special day in beautiful Northeastern Oregon!
