Roland and Mikaila first met when their mutual friend asked Mikaila if she would sub for their upcoming sand volleyball game. For Mikaila, it was her first year in Kansas City, and she was still getting to know the area. For Roland, it was just an ordinary game where they were short a few players and a new sub would join them. Just another sub, so he thought.

After some shy small talk and a few sandy games of volleyball, the two got to know each other a bit better. But was it love at first spike? Not exactly.

While their chemistry on the sand was undeniable, Roland and Mikaila remained friends for about a year. They played in volleyball and kickball leagues together. Roland witnessing Mikaila's competitive nature and Mikaila covertly drooling over Roland's raw athleticism. They would spend time enjoying Royals and Chiefs games and frequenting the KC bars with their group of friends. Eventually, the group's escapades led them to stomping the sticky floors of the tumultuously-trendy and delightfully-divey, "Throwback". It was under the romantic booms of 90's hip hop where the two would share a drunken kiss, leaving them wondering if their friendship could be something more.

From a nervous first date at Char Bar, to meeting families, traveling the world together, and enjoying life at their own pace. These two have been on many adventures. Their favorites being their Alaskan cruise and their trip to Japan. And after 6+ years together, Roland has survived several Chamblee Christmases, and Mikaila has braved the Alaskan wilderness. While their favorite thing to do together is explore the world, nothing beats a calm Friday evening on the couch with game controllers in hand. These two are bonded by a mutual love of Pokémon, video games, anime, traveling, and food.

After all this time, and Roland's epic and hilarious proposal in Shinjuku (Tokyo), Japan, this dorky duo is ready to tie the knot! To know them is to know that they don't take life too seriously, and they are ready for one epic party with their family and friends!
