Alex and Mikalyn meet while serving together at the Columbus Dream Center!
Mikalyn was new to outreach, and was a little out of her comfort zone in the beginning. Alex was an inspiring leader, whose heart for others was evident from day one. Mikalyn was assured that here she would grow in her ability to share the love of God with others.
Mikalyn and Alex would get to know each other more over the next several months serving together. They would eventually connect at a game night on a cold February evening. Alex flirted with Mikalyn the whole time and Mikalyn won all of the games (this totally happened no need to ask him about it).
Let's be honest, Mikalyn thought Alex was cute too, and wondered if this could be more than just playful banter. She later sent him a message on Facebook that would confirm her suspicions.

Mikalyn and Alex have their first date at One Line Coffee. Alex was on time, Mikalyn was 15 minutes late.
March 11, 2022
The pair dated (unbeknownst to a lot of their friends) over the next couple months. Alex even spent 5 hours attempting to jumpstart Mikalyn's car battery that was hopelessly beyond revival. Throughout those months, the two got to know each other deeper while sharing their desires and their values.
April 24, 2022
Alex and Mikalyn are officially together! On a trip with friends to Brandywine Falls in Cuyahoga, they commemorated the occasion by taking their first photo together as a couple.
The next two years would be filled with countless memories made together. Between Pittsburgh trips to watch the Pirates, long summer days, and traveling the world to places one (or both) had never been to before, the two would share in much of what life has to offer. Highs and lows, joy and tears, and challenges that would shape and grow how each person loved the other.
Alex and Mikalyn learned a as much about themselves as they learned about the other, and saw how the Lord had placed them in each others lives to encourage each other in who they are and grow into the people they were always meant to be. Through many conversations and prayerful consideration, the two learned that they wouldn't want to walk through life with anybody else.

Mikalyn and Alex are engaged! Alex planned a beautiful day together, taking Mikalyn on a tour of the city throughout all of the places they had been before. Each stop had a note that Alex had written, telling the story of how they fell in love all over again.
On this snowy January night, Alex took Mikalyn to the top of her parking garage to look over the city skyline. This is where the pair had been two years before, where they had first shared their stories with each other. Here, Alex gave Mikalyn the final note, and the beginning of the next chapter of the story. Alex told Mikalyn that he loved her, and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him.
(Oh right, she said yes!)
