Our Story

So, where and when did Sam and Mikayla meet? They have actually known each other since elementary school! Though they’ve both admitted to crushing on each other in elementary, middle, and high school, the timing was never right. That is, until the summer after high school…

In the summer of 2016, Sam and Mikayla were both asked to sing at a wedding. They both attended the reception, which was located at none other than The Casino at Lakemont Park. Dancing throughout the night and (awkwardly) talking was their first experience hanging out. Little did they know they were dancing in the same place that would become their own wedding venue 8 years later!

The two saw each other a few more times over the remainder of the summer but eventually went off to different colleges, Mikayla at Duquesne in Pittsburgh and Sam at Pitt-Johnstown in, well, Johnstown. Even though they were far apart, they found themselves trying to make excuses for their friends to get together, though this was really just a cover so they could see each other. Eventually it became blatantly obvious that they had feelings for each other.

After hanging out a few times, Sam finally asked Mikayla out on an official date, and she couldn’t have been more excited! On November 24, 2016, he asked her to officially be his girlfriend after a beautiful date night that consisted of a yummy italian meal at Olive Garden, a beautiful display of Christmas lights at Lights on the Lake at Lakemont Park (another shoutout to the complex that their wedding venue is in), and some delicious ice cream at Cold Stone Creamery. The rest is history!&nbsp;&nbsp;

Fast forward 6 years… Sam decides to surprise Mikayla while she is getting home from a totally normal day in the office. On February 7, 2023, Mikayla walks into the main door of their apartment to find Sam standing there waiting for her with dozens of rose petals laid out and dozens of tealight candles lit in a path around him. Mikayla, hoping he hadn’t accidentally celebrated Valentine’s day a week early, exclaimed, “what are you doing?!” She finally heard Sam say as he got down on one knee, “Mikayla Ann Hazy, I’ve loved the past six years with you, and I’d love to spend the rest of my life with you. So, would you marry me?” It was the fastest and easiest yes she ever uttered! She struggled to put down her things and left the front door hanging wide open so Sam could slide the most beautiful ring onto her finger.&nbsp;

THE TWO WILL TIE THE KNOT ON JUNE 1, 2024. THEY CANNOT WAIT TO SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIVES TOGETHER, AND CANNOT WAIT TO CELEBRATE THE MOST SPECIAL DAY OF THEIR LIVES WITH YOU!
