It was a beautiful fall night, Mikayla and her best friends went to the Gilbert Temple to "pray for their future husbands" when she and the girls stumbled into the church building on the temple lot. Upon walking around the building, the girls came across a wall of missionary plaques. Mikayla saw Landon's plaque, took a picture of it, and told the girls "I am going to marry this boy" without ever meeting or knowing Landon.

Picture this, its Valentines night, Mikayla was crying like a baby, feeling alone, and was praying for her future husband (she does that a lot), and Heavenly Father definitely heard. That same night, a mutual friend of the couple, Colton Davis felt impressed to tell Landon to reach out to Mikayla. The next morning Landon texted Mikayla and 10 minutes into their first phone call they both knew that they wanted to marry one another. Mikayla jokingly asked, "so we're getting married?", and Landon replied, "YES!". Coincidentally, that same day, Sara White asked Mikayla for pictures from the night at the Gilbert Temple in October 2023 when Mikayla came across the picture of Landon's plaque and realized he was the man she told her friends she would marry months prior without ever meeting him! On March 14th, 2024 the couple had their first date and officially became boyfriend and girlfriend.

The Hassell Family invited Mikayla to join their family Disney trip. Mikayla woke up at 6am and got ready to head to Anaheim. As she got into her car to leave, surprise! Landon had Momma Rami hand Mikayla a card with a scripture on it and a cute note informing her that they were not going to Disneyland but rather the rest of the day was to be filled with an itinerary that was curated by Landon. Throughout the day Mikayla was handed beautiful cards with heartfelt scriptures and a series of activities to get ready for the day which ended with a beachside engagement in Santa Barbara, California with their immediate family members at their side. Momma Rami, Ellie Pratt, and Sara White were at Mikayla's side throughout the day. The Hassell Family arrived at Mikayla's family home and together the families created gorgeous floral centerpieces that were used for the stunning beach side family dinner and hauled pieces to build an intimate ambiance for the proposal and family gathering. It was stellar team work and the beginning to two families coming together.
