Our Story…

Shelley and her friends were out for drinks and appies at Signal Point, when they spotted a handsome guy sitting alone. They assumed he was waiting for his date, but when food arrived and he was still flying solo, they pounced! Julie, who recognized him as a patron of the barbershop/salon where they worked, went over and got the scoop - he was single and living in Williams Lake. She pointed him in Shelley's direction, he recognized her from the barbershop.

The girls were out for drinks again (sensing a pattern here?) and Shelley was venting about her latest dating disaster. Her friends took matters into their own hands, they found Mike from Signal Point on Facebook, and added him without hesitation. Weeks passed with no communication, but Mike liked Shelley's photos enough to raise some eyebrows. Finally, Ricki (Mike’s barber and Shelley’s cousin) suggested that Mike make a move, but Mike thought it might be awkward since 'she' had added him on Facebook months ago. Completely unaware of this conversation, Shelley messaged Mike a couple of days later, saying she was cleaning out her Facebook and gave him two options: flirt or get booted off her friend list. Entertained by her boldness, he chose wisely and sparks flew! After nearly a week of non-stop texting, they met for a coffee date, after hours of talking, the coffee shop was closing and so they decided to continue their date over dinner.

With their four year anniversary approaching, Mike decided it was time to pop the question. The ring, made-to-order, was hopefully to arrive for their anniversary, but alas, it didn't show up on time. The two spent a romantic weekend in Kamloops and headed back home.

The following weekend, December 1st, Lonnie and Don raced to Kamloops to grab the ring and headed to Williams Lake, meeting Mike halfway at 100 Mile House. With the ring finally in his possession, Mike scrapped his engagement plans and headed straight to Shelley's salon where she was prepping for a Sip n' Shop event. As she was getting ready, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him and she said...(drumroll please)...YES!
