Our Story

It’s funny how two people can be so close, yet never truly meet—until the timing is just right.

We both went to Northville High School, hung out in similar friend groups, and were probably at the same events more than once—but somehow, we never actually connected. I (Mikenna) was on the pom team from 2010 to 2014, and I (Cole) transferred into Northville from Catholic Central in 2010 and played hockey until I graduated in 2012.

After graduation, we both ended up at Michigan State University. For 2 years, we lived just a few blocks from each other, but the only time we crossed paths was a quick moment when I saw Cole walking through campus and gave him a wave. That single wave would be our only exchange for the next several years.

In late 2021, we reconnected after I (Cole) moved home from Chicago. I sent Mikenna a message asking if she wanted to come meet up with me and a few friends at The Post Bar in Plymouth. She didn't respond. A strong start.

December 31st, 2021—Cole’s birthday—I reached out to wish him a happy birthday, and after a few messages back and forth, Cole asked if he could finally take me on a proper date. This time, I said yes.

January 7th, 2022— He took me on our first date and something just clicked: the conversation, the comfort, the way it all felt so easy. January 29th, Cole asked me to be his girlfriend, and by July, we moved in together in downtown Plymouth.

Two years later on June 15th, 2024, I proposed to Mikenna at Chateau Chantal Winery in Traverse City. My parents and I planned a trip for their "Anniversary", which turned into a surprise proposal. Mikenna’s parents and sister were there as well to surprise her and celebrate with us.

Today, we’re living in our condo in downtown Plymouth with our sweet pup, Evie. We’re getting ready to build our future home in Northville near Cole’s parents. Our hope is to fill it with the same love, laughter, and support that we both grew up with.
