Mikey & Mark

June 20, 2026 • Denver, Colorado
30 Days To Go!

Don't just come for the wedding, silly goose! Enjoy some of the great things Colorado has to offer while you are here!

Below are some of Mark and Mikey's favorite things to do in and around Denver:

Denver Botanic Gardens

Beautiful and big botanic gardens. These lush gardens will be in full bloom this time of year!

Butterfly Pavillion

Mikey used to work here! This invertebrate zoo is about 20 minutes north of downtown Denver. The Wings of the Tropics conservatory will transport you to a tropical paradise with thousands of butterflies (and Larry the dove!) flying all around you. How magical!

16th Street Mall

This mile-long pedestrian street runs from Union Station to Civic Center Park in downtown Denver. It's lined with shops, restaurants, and bars!

Highlands Neighborhood

Located Northwest of downtown Denver and near their home, here are a few of Mark and Mikey's favorite places in The Highlands:

Highlands Square Farmers Market

Sundays: 9:00 a.m. — 1:00pm

32nd Ave. between Julian and Mead St.

Little Man Ice Cream

Serving great ice cream out of a 28-foot tall milk can. The line can be long, but it's worth the wait! They also have a few other locations around town.

Teocalli LoHi

Mexican restaurant focusing on food from Oaxaca. We also like their location in Olde Town Arvada (another great neighborhood for shopping and dining with pedestrian-only streets.)

Avanti Food & Beverage

Not sure what you're hungry for? Avanti (not Abante!) is a fun food hall with a number of eateries and great views of downtown Denver.

Gaetano's

This cool, historic Italian restaurant was founded by a mob family. Make a reservation if you plan to go...or else...you won't get a table!

Other Areas and Neighborhoods:

Washington "Wash" Park

Washington (Wash) Park

One of Denver's best parks! Beautiful and historic park with two lakes. This neighborhood has many elegant and historic homes. Also check out nearby Platt Park!

Platt Park

South Pearl St. Farmer's Market

Open on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m., support local businesses and get a bite to eat before stopping by Mark and Mikey's house on Sunday, June 21!

Stella's

This historic home was converted into an ultra cozy coffee house. This is where Mark enjoys relaxing with a comforting cup of tea while Mikey types furiously on his laptop with a hot coffee.

Sushi Den

Located across the street from Stella's, this where Mark and Mikey roll (sushi roll that is!) We highly recommend you make a reservation as wait times can be very long.

Sloan's Lake/Edgewater:

Mark and Mikey lived in Edgewater when they first moved to Colorado. Here are a few of their favorite places to check out:

Odell's Sloan's Lake

This brewery is perfect for the whole family! With great beer, pizza, and a dog-friendly rooftop patio — it's the ultimate summer spot to hangout! Go up to the rooftop for great views of Sloan's Lake and downtown Denver.

Edgewater Public Market

Enjoy a number of great dining options and cute artisan shops. They also have the best-named bar ever!

Edgewater Beer Garden

Located in their old neighborhood, this beer garden offers food and drinks to enjoy. The large, outdoor area is dog-friendly, making it a favorite for neighbors to walk to with their dogs. Mark and Mikey still enjoy hanging out here (Roger, not so much—he is a homebody!)

Entertainment:

Live Music:

City Park Jazz

Every Sunday in the summer, City Park hosts a Jazz concert. Bring a picnic, hang out, and get your groove on!

Red Rocks Amphitheater

Catching a concert at Red Rocks while you're in Colorado should be a requirement! This historic music venue is one of the best outdoor amphitheaters for live music in the country.

Other venues

Denver is home to many great music venues! Check out Westword for a list of events while you're in town.

Drag Show:

Drag is a celebrated artform in the LGBTQ+ community and one of Mikey's favorite hobbies is performing as his drag persona, Cherry Jubilee!

The art of drag can be enjoyed by everyone at any age but not all drag shows are family-friendly. Check out the link here to catch a show while you're in town! (P.s. bring dollar bills and tip the performers!)

Baseball:

Catch a Rockies game! Tickets are cheap, the views are amazing, and Coors Field is located in the heart of downtown Denver.

Further afield:

Golden, CO.

12 miles west of Denver, Golden is an Old West town home to Coors Brewery, and it also was the original capital of Colorado Territory before it moved to Denver. You can buy a tube and go tubing down Clear Creek. Bridgewater Grill has a great terrace by the creek and is a good spot for lunch and to watch people tube down the creek. There are also a lot of great little hikes all around Golden.

Boulder, CO

35 miles NW of Denver, Boulder is home to the University of Colorado. Boulder offers great shopping and dining along Pearl St. and has many outdoor opportunities. Go for a hike around the flatirons starting from Chautauqua Park

Estes Park, CO

65 miles NW from Denver in the Rocky Mountains is Estes Park. Gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, Estes Park is a picturesque mountain town with lots of great shopping, and dining. The town hosts many events in the summertime.

Fort Collins, CO

65 miles north of Denver is Fort Collins. Home to Colorado State University, Ft. Collins is also a beer mecca, with more than 25 breweries. Downtown Ft. Collins is very charming with great shopping and dining and many well-preserved stone buildings.
