GENERAL TIPS

1. What currency is used in Colombia, and should I exchange money before arriving?

In Colombia, the official currency is the Colombian Peso (COP).

Currency Exchange

Exchanging Money Before Arrival: It can be beneficial to exchange a small amount (like $50 to $100) at the airport so you have cash for immediate expenses such as transportation or tips.

ATMs and Currency Exchange: ATMs that accept international cards are available at the airport, cities, and towns, allowing you to withdraw pesos directly.

Credit and Debit Cards: Most places in urban areas accept major credit and debit cards, but it's advisable to carry cash for smaller shops, local markets, and rural regions.

Overall, having a mix of cash and cards for your trip is a good idea.
