Mineka and Tarell's paths first crossed in the fall of 2016, when they were both employed by the same company. Mineka held the role of Implementation Project Manager, while Tarell served as a Senior Systems Engineer.

According to Mineka's perspective, she first noticed Tarell's quiet demeanor in the office, but their interactions increased as she managed multiple projects he was involved in. However, their relationship took a turn towards friendship during various group outings after work. One particular evening, their colleagues gathered at Johnnys Hide Away, a local bar in Buckhead, where Tarell found newfound confidence after a few drinks and engaged in lively conversation—a departure from his usual demeanor. This newfound rapport led to Mineka extending an invitation to her upcoming birthday celebration, although Tarell regrettably couldn't attend due to unforeseen circumstances (or so he claims).

Nevertheless, Tarell took the initiative to ask Mineka out on their first official date in March 2017, where they bonded over good food and drinks. Mineka was charmed by Tarell's gentlemanly demeanor, marking it as a significant win in her eyes. Over the following months, they continued to date off and on, although the stars didn't fully align until December 2018.

During this time, Mineka was embarking on a new venture—co-opening her first restaurant—and Tarell stepped up in every possible way to support her. His unwavering presence and assistance made Mineka realize that she had found something extraordinary, a bond she believed was guided by a higher power—For Mineka, Tarell's presence during such a crucial time made her realize that he was something special, a blessing from above that she cherished deeply.
