Miranda Miller and John James Jr. (Roochi) first met at Mississippi State University in Starkville, MS of Fall 2013, while Miranda was a freshman and John was a junior in college. During this time, they both shared a mutual friend, Jackie Ray Bingham. At this time, they were unaware, but they both were from the same hometown, Memphis, TN.

Jackie was Miranda’s assigned freshman mentor and one of Johns close friends and roommates. In her initial semester of college, Miranda was majoring in Kinesiology, what John eventually gained a degree in during Spring of 2015. While looking for assistance to better her understanding of the class and major, she reached out to her freshman mentor at that time Jackie, who advised that his roommate, Roochi, was currently majoring in the same subject and would be able to assist her. Miranda reached out to John on Instagram in late Fall of 2013 for assistance with a class and their friendship began from there. John would call Miranda Koolaid Smile randomly under her pictures, because he felt she smiled hard, like the Koolaid man. Lol, but Miranda later changed her major to accounting then to Finance, and they progressively became closer and closer as friends, assisting one another with class assignments, discussing life and those they were dating, joking on one another, and talking about changes to their hometown. During some of these conversations, he would ironically ask her to hook him up with one of her friends who looked like her. Little did he know what the future would behold!

Miranda states that when they were friends in 2014, a random, unplanned and unexpected thought came across her to ask John his feeling regarding them dating one another. He mentioned it never crossed his mind, but he was definitely open to giving it a try. Well, they gave it a shot resulting in you reading this on today. ☺️

After a year of dating, beginning in 2014, John gifted Miranda with a diamond necklace and asked her to be his girlfriend. John asked Miranda to be his girlfriend outside of a beautiful waterfall sculpture at Court Square Park, located in downtown Memphis, on Christmas Day of 2015... and the rest is history.

Since then, their bond and friendship with one another has only gotten closer. Miranda has been with John since John graduated from Mississippi State with a bachelor’s of Exercise Science in 2015 and during the following years in nursing school, later becoming a Registered Nurse in 2018. John has been with Miranda since before she turned 21 at Mississippi State, watching her graduate with both her bachelors of Business Administration in May of 2017 and her masters of Business Administration in December of 2020 from Lamar University. They built and closed on their very first home in early 2022. They have seen one another grow, experience highs and lows, and such things have contributed to the foundation of their long-lasting friendship and relationship today.
