Our Wedding

We first met at Summer Orientation for the University of Illinois School of Music, wide-eyed and full of dreams. In a room of strangers, we shared our goals for college. Miranda, with her trademark wit and charm, said she wanted to be a saxophone for the Marching Illini, but even more than that, a great teacher. Simon, ever the dreamer, declared he wanted to be a “badass musician.” Somehow, that line worked on Miranda. (We’re still not sure how—but here we are.) Fate had more in store—we ended up sitting next to each other in Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Music History. What began as a friendship quickly became something deeper. Miranda and Simon became best friends and steadfast supporters—especially during a difficult time sophomore year, when Miranda helped carry Simon through each day with care, patience, and love. (And an uncanny ability to remember all his homework deadlines, even when he definitely didn’t.) Somewhere in those quiet, everyday moments— making sure the other was awake for our 8am classes, ensuring a steady supply of snacks and caffeinated beverages for each other, and simply showing up—the love between us grew. It was gradual, yet all at once. We learned, as Simon’s parents once said, that love is knowing every side of a person and choosing them, again and again. Over the past ten years, we’ve laughed, cried, and made music together through every season of life. We’ve faced our share of challenges, and each one has made us stronger. In November 2023, under the glow of the Marshall Field’s Christmas Tree, Simon finally proposed. (Yes, finally. He took his sweet time.) We can’t wait for what comes next—and we are so grateful to have you here to celebrate the love we’ve built together.

Our Story

One of our greatest joys in life was watching our beautiful daughter, Miranda, become an adult. She was a creative, independent child with a charming personality who blossomed into a strong, successful young woman. We are extremely thrilled to welcome Simon into our family - a perfect fit for our daughter. His sense of care toward our Miranda is genuine. We are glad Miranda found Simon. We wish them both a world of happiness as they build a life, a home, and beautiful memories together. May all their dreams come true.

Dave and I are very proud parents of our son, Simon. We are so happy for him and Miranda. Even though his Dad, David S. Tiffin, can't be here to witness the ceremony, he will be there in spirit and in our hearts. May Simon and Miranda have as many years and more than Dave and I.
