Patrick and I met in 2017 at a college party, standing on opposite sides of a beer pong table. He played baseball, I played soccer, and while our friends tried to play matchmaker, it wasn’t until the end of my sophomore year and his junior year that we truly began to connect. Our first "date" wasn’t fancy, but it was perfect. It was a Sunday morning after a party, and Patrick picked me up from my dorm room on campus to grab breakfast tacos from Torresita’s. Fast forward a year—now in 2020—we had what we lovingly call our “second first date.” This time, Patrick went the extra mile with a thoughtful dinner reservation at Piatti’s Italian restaurant. From that night on, the rest was history. Patrick says what he loves most about me is my deep love for my family—a value we both share. When he asked my dad for his blessing, my dad was so choked up he could hardly speak. A man who didn’t warm up to many people, my dad immediately bonded with Patrick over their shared love of sports, their competitive streaks, and their mutual joy in teasing me. The proposal was everything I could have dreamed of. Patrick surprised me with all of our family and friends after popping the question, and we spent the evening surrounded by love, laughter, and so much happiness. Over the years, we’ve grown through both joyful milestones and life’s unexpected hardships. The most defining of those was the loss of my father in September 2024. During a time when I could only give 20%, Patrick gave 80%. On the days I could give just 10%, he gave 90%. His patience, his gentleness—not just with me, but with my family—showed me time and again that he’s truly my person. And what truly sealed the deal? Patrick’s most glorifying achievement—hitting four grand slams in his baseball career. If you haven’t seen the footage… just ask. He’ll have the video pulled up and playing for you in under 30 seconds—with the biggest grin on his face. We’ve had a lot of chapters already, and we can’t wait to start the next one—together.
