It all started in 2020, when Miranda was just a Police Cadet with the Woodstock Police Service. Stubborn and hard-headed from day one, Miranda quickly wore out her first coach officer—he gave up on her. And then came Steven.

Steven didn’t exactly volunteer to be Miranda’s next coach; he didn’t know anything about her, except that she had a big smile and wore way too much perfume—so much that it even lingered over the police radios. Still, he took her on, coached her for two weeks, and just like that, she was ready for the road.

At this point, there was zero romance between them—strictly professional.

Fast forward about a year. A few too many beverages were enjoyed at a work function, and something changed. Sparks flew, and from that night on, they were inseparable. Miranda and Steven quickly realized they shared core life values: a love for adventure, strong family ties, and a mutual desire for simple, lasting happiness.

Their journey hasn’t always been smooth—what great love story ever is? But through every twist and turn, they found themselves growing stronger, exploring the world, and making lifelong memories at the cottage with family and friends. They knew they had something special.

Miranda knew she found a diamond in the rough when Steven claimed victory at the 2022 Hot Dog Eating Competition in Kearney, Ontario. Not only did he win over the cottage crowd, but he also secured a place in the family’s heart—with unforgettable nicknames to boot.

Cindy and Duffy Robb were relieved Steven had found a beautiful young woman ready to take on the “carnage” that is Steven. Meanwhile, Colleen and Bert were just as thrilled that Miranda had found a man who could occasionally put her in her place—after all, Portuguese women are known for their strong will!

Steven also took on a new role, becoming a stepdad to Miranda’s pride and joy: Miss Ivey—a fan favourite in any crowd.

Then came Family Day weekend in 2023. On their way to the cottage, Miranda casually suggested stopping in Orillia to “look” at a goldendoodle puppy. Steven had no idea that there was already a crate and puppy essentials hidden in the trunk. That’s how Morgan—named after country artist Morgan Wallen—came into their lives, rescued from a puppy mill and never looked back.

Today, Miranda and Steven are beyond excited to start their next chapter together. They can’t wait to celebrate with the people who have supported them from the beginning.
