Corey and Miranda’s story didn’t start on an app or by chance—it was a full-on family production. Miranda’s Aunt Stacie Surmay was the first to introduce them, but she wasn’t the only one working behind the scenes. Corey’s sister-in-law, Jessica, and her cousin, Antoinette, were also plotting ways to bring these two together. It turns out, when enough people are rooting and praying for someone, it usually works out.
Their first date was at Kozmo's in Massillon, and Miranda—ever the planner—double-checked what time the restaurant closed just in case she needed a quick exit strategy. Spoiler alert: no exit needed. In fact, they both wished the night lasted longer.
They spent the following months getting to know one another and spending time with each other’s families—something that was important to both of them. Between outdoor adventures, boating weekends, and Sunday family dinners, it didn’t take long to realize this was something special.
When Corey was ready to propose, he went straight to the expert—Miranda’s sister, Madison. She gave him the inside scoop, and with help from his mom, Susie, and sister-in-law, Jessica, the plan came together perfectly. Even the ring was a team effort, with a close family friend (who both Corey and Miranda know!) guiding him through the process.
Corey proposed on January 4th, while they were taking down their first live Christmas tree. It was a low-key, meaningful moment—just the two of them—followed by a day full of calls, hugs, and happy tears as they shared the news with friends and family.
They chose July 12th for their wedding date, a nod to their very first date on July 11th and their shared love of all things 4th of July. Even their wedding colors give a subtle wink to the sparks they felt from the very beginning.
From a group effort to get them together, to a tree-side proposal, and now a celebration surrounded by their favorite people, Corey and Miranda’s story is one of timing, teamwork, and a whole lot of heart—with just the right amount of fireworks.
