Not really sure where to start. Josh and I met at the races I would say in 2014. Not really sure on the year to be honest. Haha!! We started out as friends and started talking to each other. We both started catching feelings for each other.
It was Mother's Day weekend and my brother and Jay Schmidt were racing in Boone. They both won so we went back to Jay's shop and hung out till the wee hours of the morning. When we all went to leave I was just outside of Toledo, and he texted me and said you know you could have stayed. So I flipped a U turn and went back to his house and spent the night. Was my mom the happiest that I really didn't spend time with her on Mother's Day. No, but oh well. So we started dating May 10, 2015. Which I guess you could say we never "dated" because neither one of us actually ever asked each other out. So maybe that's why I had to wait all of these years for a ring. Haha!
We've been through so many different things. So many different places. Dirt track racing I would say is our passion. We have been to many more tracks around the state and many out of state. We are looking forward to many more tracks.
Fast forward to Valentine's Day 2023 and he finally popped the question. He met me in Marshalltown after I got off work. I could tell something was off. He was more quiet then he normally was. Shocking I know, who knew he could be more quiet. Haha! So we had supper and went home. He took Paisley (our dog) out to go to the bathroom and put the ring on her collar with a little heart attached to it. It read Will you marry Dad? Obviously I said yes or we wouldn't be to this point right now. So let the planning begin!
I've always wanted a fall wedding. So instead of rushing everything I decided that we were going to wait 20 months to get married. Which at this point we basically are. I just don't have his last name and the state doesn't see that we are married. So here we are however many days we are away. Let's all have a good night and good time!!
