Back in 2020, neither Jake nor Mireya could have imagined that a simple swipe on a dating app would change their lives forever (And if it wasn’t for Mireya making the first move!)The two talked for months (this was in the middle of the pandemic so FaceTime calls and late night texting was all they could do for a while) until finally the day came to go on their first in-person date. Jake was in charge of planning. He couldn’t chose one idea so he went with all of them! he mapped out a full 8 hour date that started at the Michigan City zoo and ended with watching the sunset at the Dunes.


That first date proved to be so wonderful that Mireya suggested a second date for the next day right away. And that second date (a pumpkin patch trip to pick out pumpkins to carve together for their third date) turned into a third, then fourth and soon it was every possible moment the two could find to spend together. Jake and Mireya’s adventures have taken them to Disneyworld, the beautiful vistas of Michigan, fun restaurants to leave Yelp reviews together and everywhere in between.


Along the way the two were introduced to each other’s families and if it wasn’t apparent that they were always meant to be- it couldn’t be denied after seeing how quickly the two were integrated into the lives of each other’s loved ones. Mireya learned to fish from Jake’s Pa and became part of the Doolin candy making tradition. Jake became an older brother two Mireya’s cousins and garage sale buddies with Papa.


The pair were also blessed with three wonderful cats that give their lives so much entertainment and scratches (mostly from Smudge).


After four years Jake was finally brave enough to propose on May 11th, 2024 in a theater surrounded by both their families and friends. Which leads us to here, the next step in Jake and Mireya’s forever adventure- the wedding. The pair has had quite the eventful and joyous first few years together and are so happy to have you join them as they begin the next part of their love filled lives.
