Please note that the Bozeman airport is around a 1 hour drive to Sage Lodge. Sage Lodge is located pretty much in the middle of Paradise Valley. The general geography of the broader area is as follows:
1) Downtown Bozeman - located around 20 minutes from the airport. The downtown area is somewhat small and is something we easily feel you can see and explore in around 90 minutes. Most of the shops and restaurants are right on main street. Also: Drew & Miri recommend checking out MAP Brewing upon arrival as it is on the way to downtown (about 10mins from the airport), and provides a great place to grab lunch and a beer after a long flight!
2) Livingston - small town around 40mins east of Bozeman. Livingston comprises the northern border of Paradise Valley.
3) Gardiner - extremely small town around 35mins south of Sage lodge. This is the Northern Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. From Gardiner you are around 15 minutes into the Park.
4) Paradise Valley - bordered by mountain ranges on both the east and the west, the valley runs north to south from Livingston to Gardiner along the banks of the Yellowstone river. For guests looking to venture off the property during their stay we recommend checking out our "Things to Do" Page for some activity ideas.
5) North Yellowstone - Key attractions include: Mammoth Hot Springs, Lamar Valley, Mount Washburn, Bunsen Peak; (Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Springs, and other geothermic attractions are around 90mins from Gardiner).
6) Big Sky Montana - ski resort area; located ~1 hour south of Bozeman.
7) West Yellowstone - the Western entrance to the park; located around 90mins -2h south of Bozeman. This is the best area to stay in if you want to explore the lower parts of Yellowstone (Old faithful, Grand Prismatic Springs, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, etc).
Please note that you need to go online ahead of time and purchase passes to enter Yellowstone National Park. These can be obtained at: https://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/fees.htm#spci_ADCDA258-E1C7-8B71-B4AAEE8CDE7F7088
