We love Hamilton and we hope you can take advantage of being here! Here are some of our favourite, must-see spots.
Explore Bayfront Park. You can grab a scoop of ice cream at Hutches and walk in many directions around Hamilton Harbour. Fun fact: this was where we went on our first date and it's where we'll be living this summer!
Gage Park is a 30 hectare multi-use park built in a style reflective of the Canadian City Beautiful movement of the 1920s. It is one of Hamilton’s most iconic landscapes. Gage Park has outstanding gardens, a historical fountain, and a large playground and splashpad.
Sam Lawrence Park is situated at the top of the Niagara Escarpment where the Jolley Cut meets Concession Street and Upper Wellington Street. It is best known for its panoramic views of the Lower City, the Dundas Valley, and Lake Ontario. Great spot for picnicking on a clear day!
Hamilton is known for its waterfalls! It's hard to pick just one. We love Tiffany and Tews falls. Both are very accessible. Paid parking is likely required. Check out this waterfall guide below.
The Hamilton Farmers’ Market is one of Hamilton’s oldest and most cherished traditions, featuring more than 50 vendors of fresh grocery items, ethnic foods, and meals, with some seating for diners. The croissants at Chaton are a must! Front entrance on York Boulevard, can also be accessed from Jackson Square and Central Library. Open Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays until 5pm.
541 is a café rooted in the belief that everyone deserves access to good food. Delicious, all day breakfast and lunch is served Tuesday to Saturday 8am - 2pm. The cafe is known for its "button economy" in which people help others pay for their meals by "buying buttons". Each button is worth $1, and anyone can use up to 5 buttons a day to buy whatever they would like from our menu.
Visit Durand Coffee neighbourhood cafe for amazing coffee, espresso and pastries!
This is our favourite brunch spot in Hamilton. We'd recommend their toasts and shortstack pancakes!
Democracy is a classic. It's the mother-of-the-bride's favourite cafe. They have a large vegan menu and great coffee. It's located on Locke St, which is lovely to explore.
Hamilton has a great food scene. It's not hard to find a great restaurant with a quick Google search. These are a couple gems we love!
Run by our friend Mohammad who was a professional cheesemaker before leaving Syria, Tomah features warm hospitality and the best of authentic Syrian cuisine. Heart-shaped falafel is not to be missed. We love this place so much that we are hosting our rehearsal dinner here!
Hamilton's best Mexican cuisine served in a colourful, festive atmosphere. Lots of gluten free and protein options. Mesa is the go-to business lunch spot for the bride's father, and he recommends the chorizo burrito.
