The couple met in 2010 through Nick's cousin Jeremie, who happened to be Mishka's very good friend. One afternoon after work Mishka stopped by to give Jeremie some good old-fashioned life advice and the two were introduced. They hit it off immediately, like old friends reuniting. They found reasons to see each other almost everyday after. Hanging out with Jeremie, going for picnics, walks to Black Point Marina you name it they were there together. The couple vividly remembers a particular afternoon during their courtship, Mishka was adamant about running 8 miles to Black Point Marina; Nick was less enthusiastic to say the least (but never uttered a word of disagreement). The run to the marina was a success! the run back less so. Nick ended up carrying Mishka all the way home after she got a blister from not wearing socks! It was the most romantic afternoon, in a knight in shining armor kind of way. A few weeks later the two attended Charlee's first birthday together and on the drive home, Nicholas mustered up the courage to officially ask Mishka to be his girlfriend, to which a very sleepy Mishka declined. But that's a story for another time… and well, the rest is history :)

HOW WE MET

After deciding on the perfect ring, Nicholas now had to find the perfect moment to ask Mishka to marry him. He definitely decided against asking her anything else in the car while she was falling asleep :) but, with a trip to Jamaica coming up Nick knew he had to ask her there. The hard part was hiding the ring from her until then, and getting the ring to Jamaica without her finding it. Once in Jamaica, Nick enlisted the help of Mishka's parents and they shared "ring duty" to keep Mishka from finding it. He carried the ring around the entire trip waiting until the time was right. In Ocho Rios, Mishka's parents suggested they visit Mystic Mountain. The views were absolutely breathtaking! As they rode the sky car Mishka teased Nick a bit about being so nervous to which he replied "Im not a fan of heights" (he'll never admit its an actual fear). They talked about their trip and how well it had gone, and about life together and how well that was going. Nick knew this was the moment he would ask her to marry him. At 700 feet above sea level, the Caribbean Sea below had never been a prettier shade of blue and the lush vegetation of the mountains in the distance their own majestic shade of green. Nicholas reached into his pocket for the ring and just as he was about to ask her it fell…. Just kidding! After a very heartfelt proposal a very teary eyed Mishka said YES! She could not have asked for a more perfect moment.
