Mitch and Britt first met in 2014 when they were both living in west Brisbane, an area central to where the ceremony and reception will be held. Their first date was dinner at the local Kenmore Tavern where they found similarities; growing up in the bush and a love of nature, not to mention Mitch’s great sense of humour and dashing looks.

Britt found an instant attraction to Mitch, telling her mum shortly after their first date that she had met a nice guy. Mitch is yet to find out what the name of this nice guy.

Mitch was blown away by Britt’s height, incredible sense of humour and steak choice that matched with him. They started to date often and were in a relationship by May 2015. At the end of 2015, they both embarked on an adventure to Canberra; Mitch was going to study Engineering at ADFA and Britt to study Physiotherapy at UC. However, shortly after joining the Army, Mitch was quick to realise he liked sleep-in's and unrestricted access to chocolate - this was not the path he wanted to take. Mitch moved back to Brisbane to continue working full time and studying part time. Throughout the rest of 2016, they continued their relationship via long distance with many up and down moments throughout. However, in 2017, Mitch returned to Canberra, moving into a share house with Britt while they both continued to study.

After Britt completed her degree in Physiotherapy, they made their second big move together to Burnie in northwest Tasmania in 2020. This was a testing year all round, with the Burnie hospital being the first large COVID transmission site in Australia and Mitch working in a FIFO capacity. However, they continued through multiple lockdowns, self-isolations and lack of resources in Burnie, to become a stronger and weather resistant couple. It was during this time, after many not so subtle hints from Britt, that they also added Banjo, a Kelpie cross puppy to the family.

After completing 12 months in Burnie, the couple (with a barking dog in tow) moved to the border town of Albury-Wodonga for 6 months. Slowly, they were making the pilgrimage back to Brisbane; closer to friends, family and the sun.

After Albury, they then moved to another border town in Tweed Heads. After suffering through more COVID lockdowns here for 6 months, Britt was offered a position to work at a hospital in Brisbane. The dream of being back in Brisbane had finally been realised, with the couple moving back in March 2022. In July 2022, they embarked on an overseas trip to Canada’s West coast. It was on this trip that Mitch had planned to propose to Britt with a ring he had secretly designed and kept hidden from her for over 12 months. As they were bushwalking near the quiet town of Jasper in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, they came across a small hill overlooking the town and surrounded by steep snow covered mountains. Alone and taking in this magical spot, it was here that Mitch got down on one knee and asked from Britts hand in marriage. After some shock, many tears, and some confusion from Mitch, Britt responded with an emphatic YES!

As a couple, Britt and Mitch share a joy of nature, bushwalking, travelling and exploring. They hope to continue to travel extensively around the world and here in Australia.
