Mollie and Evan: The Story of Us

The origins of Mollie and Evan’s relationship are that of a modern-day love story. Like most millennials, they first got connected on the online dating app Hinge in the Fall of 2019. They began exchanging messages and getting to know one another in casual conversation and quickly built a strong connection. Mollie was first attracted to Evan’s big heart, intelligence, and easy-going nature, while Evan was captivated by Mollie’s bubbly, outgoing personality and ability to naturally keep the conversations flowing. They continued their small talk over the next few months, and in the Spring of 2020, their relationship faced the ultimate test… Covid. The world shut down, and their “date nights” changed from dinners out at restaurants and bowling to home-cooked meals and Mario Kart. Though this time was a challenge all around, their connection to one another grew, and they quickly bonded over the simple things in life like sports, games, movies, and cooking.

Eventually, they moved in with one another, and the next big hurdle of their relationship happened: Evan met Oliver. The ultimate test of any relationship is meeting the pet of your significant other, and Evan and Oliver got off to a rocky start. Oliver was obviously very protective of his mom and very ornery towards Evan. But with a few treats, belly rubs, and lots of persistence, Evan was able to (somewhat) get permission to date Mollie from the 2nd most important boy in her life. Over the next four years, the three of them ventured around Minnesota, living in Eagan, St. Paul, and Lakeville, exploring lakes, food festivals, and sporting events all around the Twin Cities. While all this was happening and their bond became more and more serious, Mollie began to wonder what their future held and when their next chapter would begin…

Fast forward to the winter of 2024, and yet another big milestone in their adventure together arose. Evan accepted a new career opportunity, which would mean that they would have to move away from Mollie’s home to the Windy City of Chicago. This was a big leap of faith for both of them in multiple ways, but it was something they both agreed they wouldn’t have done without each other. To celebrate this exciting new change in their lives, they planned a trip to the tropical island of Maui. Little did Mollie know the true purpose of this trip, a secret proposal. On January 27th, the two of them set off for a romantic trip along Maui’s famous Road to Hana to soak in the natural beauty. All the while, Evan was nervously anticipating the right moment to get down on one knee and “pop the question”. This moment eventually happened in a secluded botanical garden along the coast of the island. While Mollie was staring off at the beauty of the Pacific Ocean, Evan kneeled and said to Mollie: “This is our moment. Will you marry me?”

Since the beginning of their relationship, their journeys together have never been a straight or ordinary path. Living in different states, a global pandemic, moving away from family, and financial/job uncertainty were all challenges that tested the limits of their bond, but love eventually prevailed. At times, their personalities, actions, and thinking can be opposites of one another. But ultimately, their connection is deeply rooted in empathetic behavior, lust for adventure together, and desire for personal growth. They continue to challenge, support, and grow alongside each other on a daily basis, and could not be more excited about celebrating their big day with close family and friends on October 25th 2025. Let the celebrations begin!
