In February 2021, we both were working at East Texas Physical Therapy. I had officially started work full-time for about 3 weeks when I decided to ask my cute coworker what his plans were for his 21st birthday. Carter responded by telling me he had no plans and was completely free. I was surprised that Carter had no one to go to dinner with or celebrate the night of his birthday, so I told him that we should do something! How sad that no one was willing to celebrate Carter on his birthday. Little did I know, Carter's family had planned a birthday dinner for him that he conveniently forgot to tell me. I went home to my mom that night, very stressed, that I accidentally asked out her former coworker's son. I was reassured that "Maybe he won't remember. Don't freak out. It won't be a big deal." I showed up to work the next day when Carter told me that he had already made the reservation at the Chophouse at 7pm for us. He would be ready to pick me up around 6:30pm. We went to dinner that night, and the rest is history! Two years later, with countless country concerts, golf dates, bad hair photos, 5 broken metatarsals and job changes, I am so glad I said yes to dating my best friend. However, Carter asks me out on dates first from now on ;)
