How it Began!

Our story began on Thanksgiving Day 2020 in Washington, DC—though we didn’t know it at the time, it was the start of something special.

Matt had just moved to DC from Philadelphia (go Birds), staying local for the holiday after a big move. He was invited to spend Thanksgiving at the home of Dave Nulanz, a family friend he'd known since childhood.

Molly had been Katie and Dave’s trusted babysitter for years. Due to some unexpected family illnesses, her family had to cancel their annual Thanksgiving get together. Since Katie and Dave were like family to her, they invited her to join their celebration instead. Neither Molly nor Matt knew the other would be there, but as the evening went on and a few glasses of wine were shared, they quickly realized just how well they connected.

What started as a casual holiday dinner turned into something neither of us expected—but both of us are so glad it did. That night, over laughter, great conversation, and the warmth of new company, we both felt like we had known each other for years.

A few meetings later Matt asked Dave for Molly's number and the two of them setup a date. Their first date was at Hook Hall in Washington, D.C.

We’re so grateful for that unexpected meeting, and for all the memories we’ve created together since.

Matt and Molly got engaged on September 1st, 2023 in Lake Anna surrounded by so many friends! They spent the entire weekend celebrating on the lake with their friends! It was a beautiful and memorable weekend surrounded by so much love!
