It all started on Match.com, where John came across Molly’s profile. After taking a good look, he couldn’t resist giving it a super-like. Besides being captivated by her smile, what really caught his eye was the "die-hard Aggie fan" part—he knew they had to be a match. He wasted no time and asked her out, suggesting they meet at Sixty Vines for their first date on November 3, 2022.

From the moment they sat down, the conversation flowed effortlessly. So much so that they both kept forgetting to even glance at their menus! John shared stories from his days in A-Battery, an outfit in Texas A&M’s Fightin' Texas Aggie Band and Corps of Cadets, and Molly, whose brother had also been in the Corps, found it easy to relate. They swapped stories about Aggie life, family, faith, and everything in between. There was never a single awkward pause, and by the time the restaurant was closing, they both knew they’d found something special.

The spark was undeniable, and it wasn’t long before they made it official on December 9, 2022. Since then, John and Molly have enjoyed every moment together—cheering on the Aggies at athletic events, trying out new restaurants, hanging with family and friends, and exploring new places through travel.

Fast forward nearly two years, and John was ready to take their relationship to the next level. On the day before Molly’s 40th birthday, he surprised her with a proposal she never saw coming. She thought it was just a regular birthday tailgate—so when he seemed unusually stressed, she was totally in the dark! Little did she know, everyone else had been quietly planning the surprise.

On September 20, 2024, John arranged for Molly to enjoy a girl's happy hour while he gathered family and friends at the Century Tree on campus, where he planned to pop the big question. After a few drinks, the girls “tricked” Molly into walking to the tree, telling her they were heading toward their old dorm. As they neared the tree, Molly started to catch on, seeing John standing there with a bouquet of tulips. She looked at her friends and asked, “Are we really walking to the Century Tree right now?” And, of course, they were!

As Molly got closer, she saw the familiar faces of family and friends gathered around, and John dropped to one knee, asking her to spend the rest of her life with him. Tears started flowing, much to Molly’s dismay, as she said yes to a lifetime of love, adventure, and Aggie football.
