February 14th, 2020. Jeremy was coming home from a work trip mid-afternoon. I had worked the night before and was coming down with a nasty cold (probably covid LOL). I woke up and messaged Jeremy if he could please bring me some food, so that I could stay in bed longer before having to work that night. I had a hard time sleeping from being sick and was up waiting for Jer. He decided to go pick up the dogs at his Dad’s first before coming home. He finally makes it home. I run out of bed to greet him (and mainly because I was HUNGRY). I noticed the beautiful bouquet of flowers and a large box of chocolates. And then I glance around to see if he had brought anything else for me... I sarcastically comment how starving I was and nonchalantly opened the box of chocolates. I opened the box to find a little black box with a ring inside. At first I cried because I felt so awful that I had been such a brat, then I turned around and there he was down on one knee. He said, “Monkey, will you marry me?” Of course I said YES. Both our eyes filled with tears. It was the most perfect moment, with just him and I.

We tied the knot! We were having venue issues so we decided to just get married. We got engaged on Valentine’s Day so it was only right to get married that day. We took off to Trinidad with a couple close friends and exchanged our vows to each other. Jeremy’s was short and sweet... and made me cry. My vows were sarcastic, full of jokes, and of course love. It was so intimate...so us. The weather was quite awful, cold and very wet. Every bride’s nightmare right? Wrong. After reading our vows to each other, we were both filled with love and emotions that it just made the entire day perfect, regardless of the weather. We would definitely do it this way again in a heartbeat. But of course, it wouldn’t be right if we didn’t celebrate it with friends and family...
