Our Wedding

Like a classic New England love story, Molly and Jesse locked eyes while slurping oysters at an oyster festival downtown. A week later they had their first date. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon so they opted to play Bananagrams, watch a movie, and have dinner at Pour Judgement (neither of them saw the irony of having a first date at a place called Pour Judgement...). Despite Molly's overly competitive nature with respect to the tile spelling game and Jesse's crippling inability to spell (he's great at math though) the two hit it off!

Newport is a beautiful resort town but that also comes with resort prices! The wedding and reception are ~10 mins apart. Any hotel, bed and breakfast, Air BnB, or RV campsite in Newport, Middletown, or Portsmouth would be a reasonable commute. While we love the idea of everyone staying together, we also understand that may not be possible.

A two-night minimum booking is required for Saturday stays and this is true for almost all hotels in the area.

Enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean from this iconic walking path! Some parts are more strenuous than others and you'll encounter stairs so plan accordingly.

Forty steps - Cliff walk

If you're only going to tour one mansion, this is the one for you! Hands down the most immaculate mansion in the area and full of history.

The Breakers

Beautiful views of the ocean and likely less busy than the cliff walk. This nature preserve offers two loops of nicely maintained gravel paths and both are slightly over a mile.

Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge

Explore the shops and restaurants in the heart of downtown Newport (and where we met !!). Though happy hour doesn't exist (boooo RI), many restaurants offer raw bar specials. If you're feeling nauti, there's plenty of harbor cruises to choose from. Our favorite is the mimosa and lighthouse tour!

Bowen's Wharf

Our favorite brewery! Good beer, free arcade games, great music, a beautiful view, AND the Mexican restaurant next door delivers.

A fun museum for kids and adults! A lot to learn about sailing and it’s history in Newport.

A winding drive along the ocean offering views of mansions and coves. Keep an eye out for Jay Leno’s mansion!

Things to Do

Registry

Given that most people are spread out all over the island in airBnBs, BnBs and hotels we will not be providing a shuttle. Why not? you may be asking yourselves. Well the answer is quite simple, given the previous statement, it would be a logistics nightmare and I cant be bothered to develop a bus route.
 
HOWEVER, we will be providing UBER credit to get to/from the reception venue. if thats all you care about, please skip the paragraph below. 
 
The hallowed ground of the church has a large parking lot that will be available for use for the ceremony. Following the ceremony there will be the traditional Catholic Gap because they will not let us do it any later. 
 
During that time you all are free to roam and explore newport. Molly and I have come up witha ahort liat of some of pur favorites but theres plenty out there, or you could just take a nap.
 
For the reception it is recommended that folks carpool or take UBERs together. The Reception venue also has a large parking lot for those of you that wish to drive. That being said please drink responsibly, the UBER credits will be available for everyone via QR code (to be provided on the day)... so if you drive there, have a few drinks and are unsure, leave the car. Take an UBER. It's very simple.
