Our Story

Monica and Josh’s story began with a meme — a borrowed one, to be exact. Josh had shared a COVID meme in Purdue’s Latino student union GroupMe that he got from his Grandpa Julian, and when Monica liked it, he immediately took notice. Not only did he think she was very pretty, but he was especially charmed by the fact that she was wearing a sombrero in her profile picture. Naturally, he did what any confident college guy would do: he looked her up on Instagram and sent her a DM. Monica, however, was not quite ready to make things easy for him. Whether it was finals, timing, or just a little mystery, Josh’s message went unanswered. For a while, it seemed their story might begin and end with one meme and one ignored DM. But sometime later, after Monica saw that Josh had completed his first solo flight, she was suddenly a lot more interested in learning about the guy behind the meme. This time, she reached out. From there, everything changed. What began as summer conversations quickly turned into a friendship that neither of them wanted to put down. And once they finally met in person at Purdue, they became inseparable. What started with a funny meme, a ghosted message, and a second chance grew into something steady, joyful, and deeply meaningful. Over the years, Monica and Josh built a relationship rooted in faith, laughter, friendship, and love — the kind of love that makes life sweeter in both the big moments and the ordinary ones. Now, they feel incredibly blessed to begin this next chapter together and to be married before God on their anniversary. Their story is proof that sometimes the best things begin unexpectedly — with a grandpa’s meme, a sombrero profile picture, a missed DM, and a love that was always meant to find its way.

Nuestra Historia

La historia de Monica y Josh comenzó con un meme — prestado, para ser exactos. Joshua compartió en el GroupMe de la asociación de estudiantes latinos de Purdue un meme sobre el COVID que le había mandado su abuelo Julian, y cuando Monica le dio “like”, él inmediatamente se fijó en ella. No solo le pareció muy bonita, sino que además le encantó que en su foto de perfil estuviera usando un sombrero. Naturalmente, hizo lo que haría cualquier universitario seguro de sí mismo: la buscó en Instagram y le mandó un mensaje directo. Sin embargo, Monica no estaba precisamente dispuesta a ponérselo fácil. Ya fuera por los finales, por el momento, o simplemente por un poco de misterio, Josh no recibió respuesta. Por un tiempo, parecía que su historia empezaría y terminaría con un meme y un mensaje ignorado. Pero algún tiempo después, cuando Monica vio que Josh había completado su primer vuelo en solitario, de repente sintió mucha más curiosidad por conocer al chico detrás del meme. Esta vez, fue ella quien dio el primer paso. Y a partir de ahí, todo cambió. Lo que comenzó con conversaciones de verano pronto se convirtió en una amistad que ninguno de los dos quería soltar. Y cuando por fin se conocieron en persona en Purdue, se volvieron inseparables. Lo que empezó con un meme divertido, un mensaje ignorado y una segunda oportunidad fue creciendo hasta convertirse en algo firme, alegre y profundamente significativo. Con los años, Monica y Josh construyeron una relación basada en la fe, la risa, la amistad y el amor — un amor que hace la vida más dulce tanto en los grandes momentos como en los más sencillos. Hoy se sienten inmensamente bendecidos de comenzar este nuevo capítulo juntos y de unirse en matrimonio ante Dios en su aniversario. We are so grateful to have so many loved ones traveling to celebrate with us. To make the weekend as enjoyable and convenient as possible, we recommend staying in Chicago the night before the wedding and reserving a second hotel closer to the venue for the wedding night. This way, you can enjoy your time in the city, then relax and celebrate with ease without having to make the drive back after the festivities.-Estamos profundamente agradecidos de que tantos seres queridos viajen para celebrar con nosotros. Para que el fin de semana sea lo más agradable y cómodo posible, recomendamos hospedarse en Chicago la noche antes de la boda y reservar un segundo hotel cercano al salón para la noche de la boda. Airports

For guests traveling by air, Chicago is served by two major airports: O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and Midway International Airport (MDW). We recommend planning transportation in advance and allowing extra time for traffic, especially when traveling into or out of the city. Our hotel block at Hyatt Regency Chicago for the night before the wedding is located in downtown Chicago, approximately 30–49 minutes from O’Hare and about 31 minutes from Midway. For the wedding night, SpringHill Suites by Marriott Chicago Southeast/Munster, IN is conveniently located closer to the venue and is approximately 1 hour from both O’Hare and Midway.-Para los invitados que viajan en avión, Chicago cuenta con dos aeropuertos principales: O’Hare International Airport (ORD) y Midway International Airport (MDW).
