Phil Berard - Best Man
Phil met Kyle in 2009 when they sat next to each other in a Microsoft Excel class at Oakland University. For whatever reason, probably pity, Phil did his best to help Kyle from failing. Unfortunately, Phil wasn't in several of Kyle's other classes. But Kyle's been indebted to him since, not because of that selfless gesture, but the countless others. Phil is the person who is always there when you need him, with only one question asked, "What can I do?" As much as he hates to hear it, you cannot have a better friend, or person in your corner than Phil. He is Kyle's Best Man, he is his brother.
Mike Parsons - Groomsman
Mike and Kyle met in Gene Fogel's broadcasting class in the fall of 2005. It was Mike who did the airwaves a disservice of giving Kyle his broadcasting debut on Oakland University's campus radio station, when he interviewed him for the segment, "Ask an Emo Kid" (again, fall 2005). From there Mike and Kyle became buds talking about pop punk music, the chaotic world of broadcasting, and Mike even got Kyle a job as a pizza delivery boy one summer. As two talkers, they've spent hours talking with each other both on air on multiple radio shows and podcasts in year's past, and as best friends on long drives at night talking about life.
Sean Varicalli - Groomsman
Sean and Kyle met in 2009 and they did not like each other. Well, Sean did not like Kyle. At Oakland University's campus radio station, WXOU, Sean was a freshman looking to record his new show. Kyle was an arrogant jerk dicking off in the studio, probably sampling something off Pure Moods. Kyle eventually apologized for this. Kyle and Sean got to know each other through Phil, through radio station events, through watching the Tigers choke in the playoffs and episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Eventually Sean and Kyle became close friends, traveling together, talking each other through tough times, and being there for each other through great life moments (like OU upsetting Kentucky in the NCAA tournament). Kyle remains incredibly proud of Sean, thinking how the fresh faced kid he first saw cursing him out through the studio door is now the dad on billboards as a top DJ in Nashville.
Rich Luzenski - Officiant
Rich and Kyle also met in Gene Fogel's broadcasting class at Oakland University in 2005. From the moment Kyle first met Rich, he's been in awe, not just of his talent as a broadcaster, writer, and general creative-- but who he is as a human. Rich is one of kindest, empathetic, and funniest people you will ever meet. Kyle and everyone else in Rich's life has gone lightheaded from laughing around him, or at some point been comforted by his kind words or his hand on your shoulder. Everyone needs someone like Rich in your life. It will be an absolute honor to have him officiate the wedding.
Leah Bramer - Bridesmaid
Monica and Leah are cousins and 2 years apart. We both had dirty blonde hair and bangs growing up. However, Monica was a ruthless child that would beat up Leah. Leah was deemed 'a hugger' which Monica has grown into appreciating. We would go through cousins week with our grandparents to siblings weekends at U of M. Monica has always loved being an honorary sister to Leah.
Marshall Sass - Brides Man
Marshall and Monica met when they were 8 years old at Duggan's Campground in Port Austin, MI. Monica's family had bought a trailer as a summer cottage next door to Marshall. They grew up together, going to the same high school and college. Marshall is a lifelong friend, the Paris to my Nicole, the Sil to my Bil. sa-da-saaaa
Theresa Krell - Bridesmaid
Theresa and Monica met through Theresa's sister Rebecca. Theresa was older and was on the colorguard team in high school. This piqued an interest in Monica which would carry on through high school to being captain of the Bronco Marching Band Color Guard team. Theresa and Monica stayed in touch through pottery projects, Zumba, and Survivor. Theresa has always opened her home to me, cooking me dinner and letting me sleep over. I was her and her husband Jordan's honorary kid before they had their own.
Kathleen Hanson - Bridesmaid
Kathleen and Monica met at WMU when sitting a Bell's Brewery we had a debate of Phil Collins vs. Peter Gabriel (Team Gabriel, btw). This started the next decade of seeing movies, theme nights at The Loving Touch, and dancing to the Talking Heads. Kathleen is a true blue friend. We have been by each other's side through thick and thin. You can often find us belting out to Billy Joel or Elton John's Levon. Kitty Rose and MiMi Rose 4ever.
