Kyler and Monica met at Village Music School in July 2016. Kyler was a beloved music teacher and Monica soon took over school operations. They didn't date for a few years, but instead ended up standing next to each other in a few company photos.

The night that they really sat down like adults, had a beer, and talked about the seriousness of their relationship. Unfortunately, there are no photos of the weekend before, when they hitched a ride on a few broken Lime Scooters, and worked it all out while riding around the streets of Oakland at midnight. Like adults.

The ring! Monica and Kyler's first date was on Oakland's "First Friday" in March. They weren't able to celebrate their 3-Year Anniversary on the first Friday in March 2021, but Kyler made up for it during a fancy sushi date in Oakland. He topped it off with a walk to Jack London Square and proposed at sunset in front of the USS Potomac.
