Monica had taken my breath away the first time I met her because of her beautiful smile and she had a personality that I knew I needed in my life. For years I kept it between God, and myself that if there was ever a chance I had with her, I would take it. You could imagine just how grateful I was when I found out she would be living in Tennessee, attending Maryville College with Cameron and I.

As fate had it, we spent an enormous amount of time together. Whether that was experiencing the beauty the state had to offer, at parties or in the dorm room, we even had a class together where she (the future love of my life) sat right in front of me, making it that much harder to keep these feelings of mine suppressed. I never imagined I would have a chance with someone as special as her, but as it turned out, all that time she had done a fantastic job of keeping that same secret from me.

Monica just so happened to be holding back these feelings about me, until one night the two of could not hold back any longer. We are not going to say who, but someone broke the ice, and confessed these feelings that had existed since the first time they met. Three years later, we are now months away from saying “I do,” and we cannot be more excited to do it in front of all of you that we cherish, and are grateful God has placed in our lives.

If it were up to me, I would have started this process a while ago, just so I could love Monica a little bit longer. However, our plans are not His plans, and our timing, is not his timing. I think our story goes to show that God’s timing is perfect, and we were right where we needed to be. One wrong turn, and our lives would be headed in different directions. Instead, we are beyond excited to see what road God has placed the two of us on together, and the journey that lies ahead.
