Monica & Cameron

June 18, 2016 • Denver, CO

Background

Cameron and Monica met while working together at Davis Graham and Stubbs, a law firm in downtown Denver. They spent about a year getting to know each other as friends, often emailing and stopping by each other's desks on a daily basis. They knew each other well when they started dating. With Monica's love of traveling and live music, and Cameron's passion for fishing and the outdoors, they have shared many amazing adventures the past 3 years.

Engagement

The Ride Festival, Telluride, CO

July 11-12, 2015

Cameron, Monica and Joe (Monica's brother) were excited to see Widespread Panic, among other acts, play for the weekend-long music festival. It was Cameron and Monica's first time to Telluride and Cameron's first overnight music festival.

Saturday morning, before the music began, they decided to go for a hike. Cameron had the plan of proposing that weekend, but wasn't sure when or where (and...for all of those who have asked...yes, he had the plan to carry the ring wherever it needed to go - Monica does not freely go through his backpack). After asking around a bit, they decided to hike to the waterfall that is distantly visible from town; the tallest free-falling waterfall in Colorado, in fact! On the drive up to the trail head, Monica looked up the name of the waterfall. The name was "Bridal Veil Falls". Duly noted by Cameron.

It was a perfect Colorado mountain morning. The sun was shining, views were clear, and some surrounding rain clouds managed to stay off in the distance. They took their time hiking while taking in the scenery and snapping photos here and there. Once they had turned the bend to the actual waterfall, Cameron knew without a doubt that this was the spot. He took a picture of Joe up where he envisioned he would propose, and then it was Monica and Cameron's turn. Cameron asked Joe to take "one, actually no, a bunch" of photos, which Monica gave him a strange look about.

Monica and Cameron climbed up towards the waterfall where they gave a swift kiss on the lips and Monica turned to pose for a photo. Cameron at this point grabbed her by the shoulders, looked her in the eye, and told her how much he loved her. She was his best friend. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with her and start a family with her. He got down on one knee. Monica was in shock. She had no clue this was going to happen, and neither did Joe who was shouting up "What's happening?!" Needless to say, they got an amazing photo - thanks Joe! - and she, of course, said YES!
