The Estoril Casino is a casino in the Portuguese Riviera, in the municipality of Cascais, Portugal. Today, it is one of the biggest working casinos in Europe. Ian Fleming author of James Bond was inspired by this Casino.
Popular surfing & swimming spot in a sheltered bay, with views from an adjoining rocky clifftop.
The Cascais-Estoril promenade is an enjoyable 3km walk that extends from the fishing town of Cascais to the small village of Sao Joao do Estoril.
The promenade is wide and flat, so it’s suitable for people of all ages and abilities. Tourists walk, locals jog, teens skate, and younger kids cycle, past beachfront cafés, bars, restaurants, and a number of grand 19th-century mansions and modern hotels. In between are also pull-up bars and other workout equipment, as well as a seawater swimming pool that delights children and teens.
Most trips to Portugal include stops in Lisbon, Porto, Sintra and the Algarve, and there’s another spot well-deserving of a visit: the coastal town of Cascais. One of the best day trips from Lisbon, it seems a world away from the hustle and bustle of the country’s capital thanks to its sun-soaked beaches, palm-fringed mosaic sidewalks and ocean viewpoints. Best of all, many tourists overlook this spot, making it a great place to get away from the crowds.
From exploring fortresses to marvelling at the rocky cliff sides, here are some of the best things to do in Cascais Portugal.
In Sintra, the tickets to visit the Palácio da Pena should be bought online https://www.parquesdesintra.pt/en/ where is also possible to see the availability of the tickets in advance.
