Mike and Monique met on September 6th, 2018. Wining, dining, travel, and Trinidadian roots were just a few of the things they had in common that brought them together. At first sight, Monique was struck by his smile and Mike was entranced by her beauty and wits (😅 I guess we all know by now who’s writing this narrative :)

Their first date was at The Cheesecake Factory, they both tried to play it cool, but they both knew the search was over! Many dinner dates followed; some favorites were Son Cubano, Negril’s, and Charterhouse. A trusting relationship was built with consistency as Mike made sure every weekend an outing was planned.

Naturally, Monique suggested Miami for their first trip. Miami was a hit and many excursions followed, including Puerto Rico, Trinidad, Atlanta, Boston, Washington DC, and more. Long before these trips, of course, both had met each other’s parents and family and got glowing approvals :) Most importantly, Hershey (Monique’s shadow dog) approved.

In September 2020, they welcomed Dominick into the world. Parenting during the pandemic brought challenges but only furthered their growth. They shared their first apartment during this time and decided to buy their first home in 2022. In 2023, they became notoriously famous on House Hunters on HGTV and welcomed their second-born son, Maxwell into the world.

The two have had quite a journey in the past five years. Exactly four years later, on September 6th, 2022, Mike asked Monique to be his wife (with no coercion at all from Monique). And she said yes, naturally.
