Our Wedding

This is not your average rom com. When planning to get married, we idealized ourselves as romantic and dreamy. But the reality of our love is closer to that of Morticia and Gomez. Or Dwight and Angela. Epic love stories indeed! But definitely more weird and nerdy. And we're scientists, so we'll share some data… We met in grad school. A truly magical place. Just kidding, it's the pits and we survived on Thai food and beer. We found small joys, though. Ever the nature enthusiast, Montana convinced Trevor to go on hikes in sub-zero temps and Trevor convinced Montana that she could not, in fact, bike home during the polar vortex. Of course, we trudged along through the pandemic. And like any hearty household in quarantine, we watched A LOT of Lord of the Rings, mellon. The world spun into chaos, and we anchored our lives in a small community of friends, advocates, and good food. We (Montana) also thought it would be a brilliant idea to get a dog during this completely stress-free time. Gin is a credit to her namesake. We fell in love in the lab. Our dates were midnight meals next to the pipettes, all-night study sessions, and too many failed experiments. She coded, he cultured cells, we listened to music together in the fume hood. Once, Montana enlisted Trevor to help catch a mouse that got loose in lab; there were a lot of tears, and it was super romantic. We got our PhDs - neuroscience for Montana and cellular, molecular, and biomedical sciences for Trevor (we know, ~cool~ and ~fun~ are exactly the words we'd use, too). To celebrate, Montana moved us across the country, and Trevor was gifted Glamdring - and if you know what that is, good for you, you have much knowledge like us.&nbsp; We arrived in San Diego. A truly magical place. (Actually true this time.) Montana convinced Trevor there are no sharks in the water, and Trevor learned to love the beach. Now, life looks different than our isolated lab days. We see family and friends often, we get sunburns, we find creatures in the tide pools, we play a lot more music. And yet, the science remains. The magical substrate binding us, despite no longer sharing lab space. The late nights persist, only now they are filled with grant writing and career moves, and libations that don’t have to be the cheapest on the menu. Montana’s sights edge toward the horizon in academia, ever towards the asymptote of success. And chatgpTrevor fills our lives with proper coffee making lore, obscure books on electrical circuits, and requests to stop ordering the same thing at every restaurant. As the world descends into chaos once more, we anchor again, but in a sturdier boat filled with loved ones.&nbsp; And now we’re writing our life down to share with all of you in the hopes that you briefly witness the alchemy of our love and understand a morsel of our huge tiny existence. We’re so excited to dance with you, to celebrate with you, to make a memory with you. Thank you for being part of the party!

whether you are flying or driving into San Diego, we're so glad you're making the trip! The entire shindig is centrally located in Mission Bay. We suggest getting accommodations in Mission Bay for friday to sunday (3/20 - 3/22), and you can get around with ubers/lyfts/taxis. If you are flying, it will be easiest to go to San Diego International Airport.

San Diego International Airport is going to be the easiest flight option for all the out-of-towners, and it's very close to Mission Bay

We can help - we know the local spots and can show you our fave beaches. and if you're convinced to move here after your visit, then we've done our job

An absolute favorite spot for all your invertebrate marine biology wishes! make sure to check for low tide times

our fave local sushi spot, and you can explore the surrounding area with cute shops and food on the 101 in downtown encinitas

for the adventurous spirit! highly recommend even for beginners in the water, they have snorkel and kayak tours and wetsuit rentals, all very beginner-friendly!

Friday Reception: your cocktail hour best! we'll catch the sunset overlooking the beach so it might get chilly as well Saturday Wedding: we will be dressed to impress and party hard, and we hope you do the same! it's spring equinox at the beach, so think florals, beachy brights, lots of color, LOTS of personality. we recommend long dresses or fun suits. there's nothing drab about this group, so we're excited to see your star quality shine! it will get cooler in the evening because we're right near the water, so please plan accordingly
