I met Bailey halfway through my freshman year in athlete study hall. He plays baseball and I play soccer at the College of Charleston so we were bound to meet sooner or later. I just remember thinking he was very cute and very nice! A week or so later he asked me if I wanted to play pool with him and when I said yes he smoothly asked me for my phone number :) I was a little excited but tried to play it cool. We hung out a few times and started to like each other, but a couple of weeks into our budding courtship I got scared! He was so kind and so good to me and I was afraid of hurting him or getting hurt. So we stayed friends and became very close! He put on all the moves, let me tell you! I tried to politely decline, but couldn't help but flirt.. oops! I realized months later that I had real feelings for him! He didn't give up on me and once we started dating I knew he was something special! I fell in love with him with ease and with joy. I knew about a month into our relationship that he was who I wanted to spend the rest of my life with! He has been a safe place for me, someone I can trust no matter what, someone who makes me better because of his character. So after dating for about nine months I was more than sure he was going to be my husband. And after dropping not so subtle hints he asked me. He took me to dinner at 5church and the meal was wonderful as was the conversation during and following. We went for a walk at Waterfront Park and I told him some of the things I love about him, unsuspecting. Just as we were about to leave he said, "Okay, lead the way." I turned and began to walk when I heard a whisper, "Babe.." As soon as I looked back I was shocked and at a loss for words. I turned to see my love on his knee holding a beautiful diamond ring (the center stone belonged to my grandma, Nonie). All I could see was his handsome, smiling face. He asked me to marry him and with a hug and a kiss I said YES! And now the journey begins. I never would have thought that cute, kind man I met in study hall would one day become my husband!
I first met Montana in athlete study hall (she plays soccer). But that wasn't the first time I saw her. I first recognized her while I was in the car with my friend Jake. She happened to be riding her bike directly in front of us and all of a sudden the chain fell off her bike!! To Montana and I it's a very funny story because that was just a little glimpse of my future wife. Back to study hall, we have had a couple small talk chats and I was trying to find a way to hang out with her outside of the school setting but I was nervous. I finally got the courage to just ask her to come over to my apartment and play pool one night. We had fun and started hanging out every once in a while for the next month or so and just from that I could tell there was something about this girl. But then she came up to me one day and stated that she wasn't ready for a relationship at the time and that she was scared. I was sad at first but I knew somehow she was going to be in my life. I told her that I would love to be friends and that I wanted to hang out still. Fast forward almost a year. We had become really good friends helping each other go through stuff in our lives and just looking out for each other. All of a sudden I felt like the Lord was telling me something. That something was to tell Montana how I feel about her for the first time and it worked!! We started dating weeks later! Within the first month of dating her I knew I was going to marry her, and nine months later I got down on a knee a proposed (she said yes). I planned on proposing during Christmas break in Denver, Colorado but I couldn't wait any longer. We went out to the restaurant 5church in Charleston and after dinner we walked around Waterfront Park. We were there for a while and it was getting late so I asked Montana if she wanted to head home. She said okay. I told her to "lead the way," and as she started walking I got down on my knee behind her and said, "babe?" She turned around immediately was shocked and filled with joy. Now we are counting down the days until we get married (literally)!!!
