Since 2020 a group of my friends have gotten a party bus to celebrate Christmas together. Kennedy and Chase have typically hosted and some of us will invite a few other people each year as well. This past year I was talking to some friends before we headed out and Caleb came up and introduced himself as a friend of Chase’s. We chatted for a bit and then headed to the bus. Caleb was being what I would come to find out was his usual self, being a fun guy, and gained my attention. At some point he grabbed another guys leg and started playing air guitar on it. I leaned over to that guys girlfriend and said “Who is this guy? I love him!”. Turns out she or the guy didn’t know who Caleb was either! We danced and sang on the bus together and as the time for people to get off the bus in the heights came, our stories differ- I remember Caleb asking if I wanted him to come with us and I casually said, “if you want”! He did, but pretty quickly we all headed home. The next morning he sent something snarky in the group text that made it clear it was him and I texted him separately.
Since then we have gone on a lot of fun dates, to weddings, spent time with family and friends, and gone on a few more party buses. I’m lucky enough to truly know and love that guy from the party bus now and can't wait to marry him!
My story starts in late November of 2022. One of my best friends Chase texted me saying that they were hosting a Christmas party bus to go see the lights in River Oaks. I ended up making one of the best decisions of my life by going. I first saw Morgan when she walked in and remember leaning over to Chase and asking who she was. He quickly told me her name and also happened to mention that she was single, so I did what any guy would do and waited until she was talking to Kennedy so that I could not so slyly introduce myself. We hit it off pretty immediately and spent the entirety of the night having fun and rocking out to Bohemian Rhapsody on the party bus. A group then decided to get off of the bus in the Heights and this is where our stories start to differ. Morgan got off the bus and asked if I was coming with them, I said I would go if she wanted me to and she gave a very vague but very suggested “If you want to!” We all got off of the bus and spent a short-lived night at Austin’s before everyone called Ubers to go home.
The next day, I sent a slightly snarky text in the group text trying to get a response from her and, sure enough, she texted me separately. We texted back and forth for about a week talking about everything under the sun, developing a crush on this awesome, cute girl. I had resolved to myself that I was going to ask her on a date and sure enough, I got the opportunity to ask her in person. She had ordered a standing desk and was suggesting that I come help her set it up, so sure enough I built her entire desk while she distracted Scout. I was supposed to go hang out with some friends after we finished the desk but we ended up standing in the kitchen talking for hours over a glass of wine. After a while, I mustered up the courage to ask her out on a date and we set up a time for the next week. The next day, I was about to run some Christmas shopping errands and realized that I just couldn’t get enough of this cute girl. I texted her and asked if she wanted to come with me, and she HAPPILY obliged. Later that week we went on our first date, Escalante’s and go karting, and what I was already thinking was a reality, that Morgan is just a joy to be around and that everything is more fun with her around. I knew right then and there that I wanted to just be around her as much as I could and that I needed her in my life.
She went on a skiing trip the next week for New Years and I missed her THE ENTIRE TIME. We FaceTimed every night and I knew that when she got back, I wanted to ask her to be my girlfriend. Sure enough, when she got back, I asked and she said yes. Of course, the next day she tested positive for COVID but I wasn’t going to let that stop me from seeing this amazing and beautiful girl. I would find any and every excuse to go see her. Need Hotty Toddy ingredients? On it! It’s yours and Nicole’s birthday? Favorite ice cream is on the way! After the COVID incident, we spent the next few weeks in an absolute flurry of engagement parties and weddings. During this time, I truly got to see just how amazing and fun Morgan is. I quickly fell head over heels in love with her and realized that this was the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.
In our time together, I have gotten to fall more and more in love with every aspect of the God-fearing, family-first woman that I get the privilege to call my wife on June 8th. She is truly an angel in my life and I cannot wait to start our life together!
