Morgan’s dad totally called it! As Morgan was debating whether to go to a YSA conference in Lethbridge in July 2023, her father said jokingly, “What if you meet your future husband?” She rolled her eyes but went anyway. And to make a long story short… here we are.

Morgan already knew her friends from Edmonton, Grace and Addie, would be at the dance, so she met up with them at the start of the evening and was introduced to their shaggy-headed, overall-wearing cousin, Bentley. They hit it off immediately, chatting deep into the night, learning as much as they could about each other as fast as they could. Bentley swears he knew he was going to marry Morgan the second they locked eyes. Lightning had struck, and from that moment on they were completely drawn to each other—so much so that despite their recent meeting on the dance floor and amongst startled onlookers, they were able to share a kiss during Pitbull and KE$HA’s “Timber”. As the night went on, Bentley realized that if he wanted more moments like these, he needed to make a lasting impression.

The next day, Morgan and Bentley managed to steal a little time together in Waterton, which only deepened their newfound interest in one another. There, they realized there was one tiny problem—despite the excitement of their newfound affinity for one another, Morgan leaving the next day to move across the country for 18 months to start her dental hygiene program in Toronto. Bentley, knowing his window to make a lasting impression was waning, promised he would visit her. And visit he did—at the end of August, just one month after meeting her, Bentley flew back to Toronto to visit his mission that he had finished that previous winter. But this time, Bentley had a new mission, to win the heart of the cute blonde he had met just a few weeks prior (with maybe a couple of mission-area visits on the side). That visit was everything, the course had been set—Bentley and Morgan were able to spend real time together, and by the end of it, they knew they had something that could overcome the 2,400 km of distance between them.

Over the next two years, somehow, they made it work, flying back and forth, counting down the days until the next visit, fueled by the knowledge that what they had was special and made to last. It wasn’t easy, but it was so worth it. And on the night of December 21, 2024, Morgan accepted Bentley’s proposal in Morgan’s hometown of Edmonton! Now, with wedding plans in full swing for May, they can’t wait to finally start forever together. 💛✨
