Austin and Tony have been friends since high school. They met when Tony approached Stin's group in the hallway looking to make new friends, and Stin said: "Why are you here?" (Stin disputes this version of events.) We've been best buds ever since.
Nick Egan - Groomsman
Nick and Tony go way, way back. We used to roam the halls in high school, busting into random classrooms to settle Harry Potter trivia disputes. Neither of us aced AP English. But our friendship is an A+.
Joey LaCroix - Groomsman
Technically Joey and Tony met in kindergarten — shout out to Mrs. Groseclose's class. But we became friends later on, bonding over pop-punk concerts and Tone's absolutely correct Ravens takes. If only Mrs. Groseclose could see us now.
Stephen Rice - Groomsman
Steve and Tony were fast friends. Steve taught Tone how to longboard, and then promptly knocked him off his board going full speed downhill. That's real friendship. I owe you one, Steve!
Carlos Franquiz - Groomsman
Carlos and Tone have been brothers since '92. He taught me the life lessons that can be gained from getting pushed down a steep hill in a Cozy Coupe. And he overlapped with Joe Flacco at Delaware, which makes him practically royalty.
Miguel Franquiz - Groomsman
Miguel and Tone used to make home movies where we acted out the show Cops (it's a good thing there was no internet back then). He taught me how to play drums, mostly by leaving his drum set around for me to mess with. Morgan will never forgive him for it.
Mackenzie Miles - Matron of Honor
We met during Morgan's senior year of college, and have been having crazy adventures since. We've faced down angry locals in Jersey bathrooms, swam with sharks in Turks and Caicos, and stayed out until 5 am in Barcelona. And when you travel as much as we have together, it's only a matter of time before you think AirBNB is scamming you. We’ve come a long way since creating rock, paper, scissors, shots!
Mara Baker - Bridesmaid
In high school this rule-follower and wild child balanced each other out (we'll let you figure out who was who). It was not at all surprising when Mara put on a shark costume belonging to Morgan's two-year-old brother. Most people might think that's weird, but hey, it was Shark Week. There are many, many other memories, but most are far too embarrassing to write down, so we’ll leave it at that.
Adela Brodek - Bridesmaid
We met freshman year in the dorms (shout out to fourth floor Cole)! At first I thought she wanted to hang out with this other girl on the floor more, but turns out she thought the same thing about me. Then we realized our mistake and became inseparable! So much so that we became room-roommates for the rest of college, and flip cup masters. It turns out our skills were so great that the college kids these days no longer play in fear that they will never amount to the skill we had (and they would be right).
Kelsey Hieb - Bridesmaid
We met in grad school at Illinois State and became fast friends by bonding over being the only two in their class to go to a Power Five school. This directly led us to feeling that grad school was easier than our undergraduate experiences, and everyone else was a whiner. It's not surprising we clung together and became roommates. Kelsey convinced me to move to the D.C. area where I met Tony. Thanks, Kels!
Masha Belaya - Bridesmaid
We decided to be roommates going into PA school, before ever meeting, and could not have been luckier. This led to a rotation in Belize together, where we saw baby turtles hatching and took the famous "chicken bus" through the bumpy Belizian countryside. And we discovered Belikin, the national beer of Belize. Many Belikins (but also not enough) were consumed in the forming of this friendship.
Bashi Sklut - Bridesmaid
We formed, as many people in PA school would point out, an unlikely (but strong) friendship. We were brought together by the way we studied, but remained friends thanks to some unique experiences — things like dancing with one shoe, Morgan teaching Bashi how to cook deviled eggs, and forcing her to become friends with Masha (you're both welcome).
Katelyn “KP” Hollinsworth - Personal Attendant
Morgan and KP met during the brief time Morgan lived in Tennessee working at Starbucks. The first day Morgan met KP she thought “this girl *is* me.” It turned out to be even more true than we thought: Years later, we both started dating our future husbands at the same time, just to swap stories. KP, like Morgan, is always down for a spontaneous trip — even if it means she almost gets eaten by a bear (glad she didn’t).
Gunnar Bestenlehner - Usher
This was your typical bossy older sister and relaxed younger brother combo. He was always my buddy, and he’s the same great person he was back then. Even when Gunnar didn’t want to play a game, he still would because I wanted to — even though I accused him of cheating every time he won. Sorry for tossing board games, painting your nails, and feeding you sand. Thanks for not beating me up when you got bigger than me. Hopefully I’m less bossy now too.
Daniel Bestenlehner - Usher
We may live far apart, but Morgan and Dan have made the most of their time together. When he was five, we went snorkeling in Hawaii, and he couldn’t stop talking about how excited he was about the sea urchins and sea cucumbers. Sea turtles and humpback whales? Not so much for Dan. We were more in sync this past summer in the Dominican Republic, although we were both a bit freaked out when someone from a strange boat threw a knife onto ours. (Don’t worry, it was just to chop pineapple.) Living proof that badgers and gophers can get along — except during The Battle for the Axe.
