Our Story

Picture of Our Story

Our story begins with a lunch date, not between us, but between Maria & Patti. Maria is Michael’s aunt, while also being friends of Patti’s, Morgan’s mom. They came to the conclusion that we were perfect for each other and decided to play matchmaker. We both got pitched the idea of us at least calling each other, to which we both responded “No way! That would be weird to call out of the blue.” That was not happening for either of us.

But God had other plans. Fast forward to 3 months later, and we matched on Bumble. We instantly hit it off in our conversations and planned our first date. We went to TopGolf and we had an amazing time. We continued the date to Union Bear for dinner, where it led us to our first kiss that night… in a parking lot. We know it's not the most romantic place, but we knew neither of us could leave that night without one. There was no mention that we were the ones our families tried to set up. Michael was hoping that Morgan would say something first to make it easy, but she did not.

Our second date we went bowling, and while we were digging into a hot honey pizza Michael finally addressed the elephant in the room. Michael began with saying “hey I think you know…” while Morgan ended up finishing his sentence confirming she knew his Aunt from Chicago. Then, it was like we’ve known each other forever! There’s something special about the kind of shared experience we both have, family from the midwest, but starting our adult lives in the south. This level of comfort brought us closer together than we could have imagined.

We both have a love of sports, even though we are rivals for many teams. Morgan quickly showed Michael why it is exciting to attend a baseball game at Wrigley Field. She compares the baseball stadium as her Disney World. It only took one trip to a game with her and her family, and Michael knew. Michael knew no better place to propose to Morgan than right there at Wrigley Field.

Two years later that’s exactly what happened. We got engaged on the warning track, near the dugout, as the Cubs were starting batting practice. It was the most perfect moment. Now, every time we go to a cubs game we can look at that little spot on the field and remember that perfect day, and how special we are to each other.

It’s been incredible watching our lives develop together. We are beyond excited for our future and what it will bring. We feel very lucky to have found each other and are excited to share our special day with our family and friends.
