In May 2021, The Dawsons were all in Birmingham, AL visiting Morgan's sister, Kyle, for her birthday. Jonathan was living in Birmingham at the time, playing for Birmingham Legion and was good friends with Kyle and her now-husband Alex. Johnny and his friend, Ford, came over that evening to join the celebration. Morgan and Jonathan hit it off right away, chatting over espresso martinis at the bar and fawning over pictures of Johnny's dog, Nina.

The following day, Morgan returned to Washington, D.C. and followed Johnny on Instagram. Johnny was super excited, and told Ford, only to be disappointed that she followed Ford too.

Fast forward to December 2021, and Kyle and Alex's wedding was quickly approaching. The couple was having an intimate wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with only 40 of their closest friends and family. When two people had to cancel at the last minute, Jonathan and Ford finally made the guest list.

The Dawsons arrived in Cabo a few days before the rest of the wedding party. Jonathan was in Arizona at Alex's bachelor party, and posted a view of his hike. Morgan "slid up" and said "That's not Mexico." Johnny thinks that was the first move... Morgan disagrees.

When Jonathan finally made it to Mexico, the two immediately clicked again. The night before the wedding, Morgan and Jonathan danced the night away, not realizing they had missed the dinner part of the rehearsal dinner. On the night of the wedding, Johnny had a mission... get in with the parents and grandparents. He danced with Morgan's grandmas, and tried to go shot for shot with her dad. That did not work out too well for him, and Morgan ended up carrying him to his room after one too many tequila shots.

As the wedding weekend came to an end, Morgan and Jonathan both realized there was a connection, and exchanged phone numbers. Morgan was still living in DC and Johnny was living in Birmingham, but they were determined to see where it could go.

When they returned to their day-to-day lives, Morgan and Jonathan facetimed every day and started to plan a trip for New Years Eve. Originally, Jonathan wanted to visit her in Washington D.C., but they decided to ring in the New Year in Atlanta with Jonathan's friends and they have been inseparable ever since!
