Darian and Morgan met when they both participated in an insect collecting trip in Belize with the UC Davis Bohart museum of entomology in 2017. When the trip rolled around again in 2019, Morgan messaged Darian asking if he wanted to book their flights together. They then became besties on the second trip, spending almost the entirety of their two weeks in the jungle at each other's side. Whether it was eating breakfast in the cafeteria, travelling on the bus, or checking insect traps at 2 AM, they couldn't be separated. And to no one's surprise, that didn't change when they returned to the United States.

While neither of them can pinpoint the exact moment their friendship turned into something more, at some point both of them realized that they were dating.

Darian proposed to Morgan on their vacation to Ecuador in 2023 after a long night in the rainforest watching bats, grabbing frogs, and searching for salamanders. The engagement story involves a close encounter with a baby alligator and his angry mama, which was exciting enough to impress Morgan.

Morgan and Darian now live in Sacramento with their big family of creepy crawly and scaley children, plus one dog who somehow inserted herself into the home along the way.
